DF Automation & Robotics, a Malaysia-headquartered provider of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs), has announced a significant expansion of its manufacturing presence in India with the establishment of a new production facility in Pune. Marking a key milestone in its India growth strategy, the company has also successfully dispatched a batch of 40 locally manufactured AMRs and AGVs to a leading automotive customer in the country.
The new Pune facility is being developed in response to the rapid growth of DF Automation’s India operations. With the local team outgrowing its existing office and operational space, the upcoming factory will serve as a dedicated hub for manufacturing, system integration, testing, and after-sales service. The facility is expected to play a critical role in supporting both domestic demand and regional projects across South Asia.
The recently dispatched fleet comprises 40 heavy-duty AMRs and AGVs designed specifically for intralogistics applications within automotive manufacturing environments. Engineered and manufactured in India, these robotic systems will be deployed for material movement, line-side delivery, and production support operations, helping the customer enhance efficiency, safety, and flexibility across its manufacturing processes.
According to the company, local manufacturing is a strategic priority that enables faster deployment timelines, reduced lead times, and improved responsiveness to customer requirements. By producing AMRs and AGVs in India, DF Automation can work more closely with customers during the design, customization, and commissioning phases, while also strengthening collaboration with Indian suppliers and partners across the automation ecosystem.
The Pune facility will also support lifecycle services, including maintenance, upgrades, and technical support, ensuring higher system uptime and long-term value for customers. As demand for flexible automation continues to rise, particularly in high-mix, high-volume manufacturing environments, DF Automation aims to position its India operations as a center of excellence for AMR and AGV solutions.
With the successful dispatch of its first large batch of made-in-India robots, DF Automation & Robotics reinforces its role as a key enabler of smart intralogistics and Industry 4.0 adoption in the region. The company expects the new manufacturing footprint to accelerate growth, deepen customer relationships, and contribute to India’s broader “Make in India” manufacturing vision.
