German industrial screwdriving technology company DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH u CO KG has established DEPRAG India Pvt Ltd marking its direct entry into the Indian mrket after more than 21 years of operations through Leaptech Corporation. The company plans to invest ₹8-10 crore in India and begin local assembly of selected systems within the next four to six months. DEPRAG India has set a five-year target of achieving double-digit million Euro revenue and plans to grow its Indian business by around 25% annually.

The new subsidiary will bring DEPRAG’s engineering, application development and customer support closer to Indian manufacturers. The investment will be used to develop local assembly capabilities, strengthen engineering services and build a technical and customer support team in India.

DEPRAG India will initially focus on industrial screwdriving and fastening systems, component-feeding equipment, assembly automation and production machines designed for specific manufacturing requirements. Its product portfolio also includes air motors, pneumatic tools and software used in industrial assembly applications.

The company’s systems are used across industries including automotive, electronics, electric mobility and other manufacturing sectors. These applications require accurate fastening, consistent assembly quality and the ability to record important production parameters.

“India has been an important market for DEPRAG for more than two decades, and we now see the scale required to establish a direct and lasting presence,” said Dr Erik Hallmann, CEO, DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH u CO KG. “Our planned investment will allow us to bring engineering support closer to customers, begin selected assembly work in India and build a local team. Our goal is to develop a €5 million business within three years.”

The company’s expansion comes as manufacturers in India increase production under initiatives such as Make in India and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes. Growth in automotive, electronics and electric mobility manufacturing is also increasing demand for assembly systems that can deliver consistent results and reduce production errors.

VP Sreejeev, Director, DEPRAG India Pvt Ltd, said, “The decision to invest and assemble selected systems locally is a significant step beyond establishing a sales office. Indian manufacturers increasingly need faster engineering support and machines adapted to their products, factory layouts and production volumes. The local presence will help us respond more quickly while building stronger capabilities in engineering, assembly and technical service.”

Local assembly is expected to reduce delivery times for selected systems and make it easier to customise equipment for Indian production requirements. During the first phase, DEPRAG India will focus on building its local team, expanding engineering support and identifying systems suitable for assembly in India.

DEPRAG traces its industrial roots to 1801 and has operated as a family-owned company since 1931. The company has more than 90 years of experience in machine building and develops technologies for manufacturing applications where fastening accuracy, repeatable quality and production traceability are important.

The establishment of DEPRAG India will provide the company with a local base to expand its business with Indian manufacturers while gradually increasing engineering and assembly activities in the country. For Leaptech Corporation, the new subsidiary also marks the continuation of its more than two-decade association with DEPRAG and is expected to expand the range of systems that can be developed and supported locally.
