Danfoss Power Solutions (DPS) India has inaugurated an Intelligent Hydraulic Systems Centre of Excellence at WIT College in Solapur, Maharashtra, to provide engineering students with practical training in advanced hydraulic technologies. The new centre is part of Danfoss Power Solutions India’s efforts to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and create a skilled talent pool for the hydraulics, automation and industrial technology sectors.

The facility combines Danfoss’s expertise in hydraulic systems with WIT College’s academic capabilities. A fully functional Danfoss Power Solutions product testing setup has been installed at the centre, giving students the opportunity to work with industry-grade hydraulic equipment and understand its use in real-world applications.

The initiative aims to reduce the gap between classroom education and industrial requirements. Students will receive practical exposure alongside their academic studies, helping them develop skills that can be applied to engineering and manufacturing challenges.

Rahul Vale, Senior Director and Centre Head, Danfoss India Innovation Centre, said the next phase of industrial growth will depend not only on access to technology but also on developing engineers who can use it to create new solutions. He said partnerships between industry and academia can turn educational institutions into centres of innovation. He added that the Intelligent Hydraulic Systems Centre of Excellence is aimed at developing engineers who can build smarter machines, support industrial decarbonisation and contribute to the future of manufacturing in India and global markets.

Manoj Ghodmare, Senior Manager, Danfoss India Innovation Centre, said the partnership goes beyond knowledge sharing and will help in developing solutions for the future of hydraulics. He said the collaboration will contribute to creating a strong talent pipeline for innovation and sustainable industrial growth.

The centre has been designed as a platform for more than classroom learning. It will support technical training, applied research, innovation and industry collaboration. Students will have access to advanced technologies and opportunities to work on practical engineering problems.

As part of the long-term partnership, Danfoss will continue to offer elective courses in Intelligent Hydraulic System and Embedded Systems for Mobile Hydraulics. Eligible students will also have access to six-month internship opportunities. Through these programmes, students can gain direct exposure to industrial practices while continuing their academic education. The initiative is expected to support the development of engineers with skills in hydraulics, embedded systems and automation.
