Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and SASMOS HET Technologies Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on developing advanced defence technologies, reinforcing India’s push for greater self-reliance in the defence sector. The agreement was exchanged between Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of BEL, and HG Chandrashekar, Chairman and Managing Director of SASMOS, in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production).
The collaboration will focus on joint development and localisation in areas such as fibre optics and photonics, tank electronics, naval systems, and airborne platforms. The initiative supports the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat programme and aims to strengthen domestic aerospace and defence capabilities while creating opportunities for exporting locally developed products.
Manoj Jain said the partnership brings together BEL’s experience in defence electronics with SASMOS’s expertise in fibre optics and photonics. He added that the collaboration is expected to deliver advanced indigenous solutions for both domestic use and global markets.
HG Chandrashekar said working with BEL will help accelerate innovation and support India’s long-term goals for a stronger defence manufacturing base. He noted that the companies plan to co-develop new technologies and contribute to the country’s vision of self-reliance and industrial growth.
