Avaada Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to invest ₹36,000 crore in renewable energy infrastructure, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The agreement was formalized during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2025 and outlines plans to set up 5 GW of solar, 1 GW of wind, and 5 GWh of battery storage capacity across several districts in the state.
Under the terms of the MoU, the projects will be developed in Kutch, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar. Construction is expected to begin in phases from 2027 through 2030. These initiatives aim to boost the state’s clean energy output and provide greater reliability to the power grid through efficient energy storage and round-the-clock power supply. The large-scale investment is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and 2,000 indirect employment opportunities in Gujarat. An additional 5,000 jobs are anticipated during the construction phase.
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, said “Avaada Group has been a key contributor to Gujarat’s renewable energy sector for more than a decade. Their continued commitment through this ₹36,000 crore investment strengthens our mutual efforts towards sustainable development. The state government will provide full support to ensure timely implementation of these projects.”
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, added “Strategic investments like this are vital to meeting our national objectives of self-reliance and achieving net-zero emissions. Avaada’s expansion in Gujarat represents a step forward in building a robust green energy infrastructure.”
Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, stated “Our journey in renewable energy began in Gujarat, and this agreement marks another major milestone. These upcoming projects will support India’s energy transition, reduce carbon intensity, and enhance energy security. Our goal is to make clean power as dependable and affordable as conventional sources.”
The renewable energy initiative encompasses the development of 5 GW of solar power, 1 GW of wind energy, and a 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) across multiple strategic locations in Kutch, Banaskantha, and Surendranagar districts of Gujarat. Designed to be executed between 2027 and 2030, the project aims to strengthen India’s clean energy infrastructure and enhance grid reliability through an integrated mix of solar, wind, and storage technologies.
Beyond its contribution to the national renewable energy targets, the project is expected to deliver significant environmental benefits. It will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 12 million tons each year, contributing to a lower carbon footprint and improved air quality. Additionally, the use of robotic module cleaning systems will lead to an estimated 166 million litres of water savings annually, reinforcing the project’s commitment to sustainable and resource-efficient operations. These projects will contribute firm green power beyond daylight hours, made possible through integrated battery storage. This will improve grid stability and support Gujarat’s renewable energy goals.
Recently, Avaada commissioned a 280 MW solar power facility in Surendranagar, developed under the state’s solar policy. Spanning 1,170 acres and involving ₹1,500 crore in investment, the project uses bifacial solar PV modules manufactured domestically under the Avaada Electro brand. In addition, the foundation was laid for a 100 MW solar project in Vadodara, with an estimated cost of ₹400 crore and spread over 350 acres.
Avaada is also active in local development efforts. The company operates education programs including free tuition and digital learning initiatives for students. It has also launched a Stitching Centre that trains women in tailoring skills to support income generation and independence. Avaada Group is engaged in clean energy development, with operations spanning solar and wind power, battery and pumped hydro storage, solar manufacturing, green hydrogen, and sustainable data centers.
