Ather Energy Limited, one of India’s top electric two-wheeler manufacturers, has announced it has produced its 500,000th electric scooter. This landmark was celebrated with the launch of the Rizta scooter at the company’s manufacturing site in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Since its introduction last year, the Rizta has quickly become a key contributor to the company’s growth.
Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy, commented, “Reaching 500,000 scooters is a significant achievement for us. From our initial prototype to this point, our focus has been on creating not only innovative vehicles but also a dependable and scalable manufacturing process. This milestone reflects years of hard work, engineering excellence, and attention to quality across every phase of production. It also underscores the commitment of our teams and the continuous support from our community of riders.”
Ather has steadily expanded its range of scooters, catering both to performance enthusiasts and family users. The Rizta model now represents more than a third of the company’s total production, driving rapid growth. Recently, Ather has broadened its footprint in Middle and Northern India, targeting smaller cities along with established metro areas.
Currently, Ather operates two factories in Hosur—one for scooter assembly and another for battery production—with a combined capacity of 420,000 scooters annually. To keep pace with increasing demand, the company is developing a third plant, Factory 3.0, in Bidkin, Maharashtra. This new facility will feature advanced Industry 4.0 manufacturing technologies and will be built in two stages. Once completed, it will raise Ather’s overall production capacity to 1.42 million electric scooters per year.
