Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd(APSEZ) has crossed the landmark of 500 million tonnes of cargo handled, marking a major milestone in its growth journey and reinforcing its position as a key driver of India’s infrastructure-led development. This achievement reflects the company’s evolution from a single port operation in 1998 into a comprehensive logistics network spanning multiple ports, terminals, and transport systems. Today, APSEZ plays a central role in enabling trade, supporting industrial expansion, and enhancing India’s global competitiveness.

Chairman Gautam Adani described ports as gateways not only for trade but also for national confidence and economic progress. He credited customers, partners, employees, and government support for enabling the company’s continued growth. He also emphasized that the milestone signals long-term confidence in India’s economic trajectory.

APSEZ’s growth has accelerated significantly over time. While it took 16 years to reach its first 100 million tonnes of cargo, each subsequent milestone has been achieved faster, demonstrating increasing operational efficiency, scale, and resilience.

The company now operates an integrated “shore-to-door” logistics ecosystem that includes ports, rail networks, road transport, warehouses, and digital infrastructure. Its network comprises multiple strategically located ports across India’s coastline, a large marine fleet, multimodal logistics parks, and an extensive trucking platform, enabling seamless cargo movement from origin to destination.

With a cargo handling capacity of over 600 million tonnes annually and a substantial share of India’s port volumes, APSEZ is well positioned for future expansion. The company has set an ambitious target of reaching 1 billion tonnes of cargo throughput by 2030.

In addition to scale, APSEZ has gained recognition for operational excellence and sustainability. It ranks among the top global transportation infrastructure companies in sustainability assessments and continues to enhance efficiency through technology and data-driven systems. As it moves into its next phase of growth, APSEZ remains focused on building world-class infrastructure while strengthening its role as a critical enabler of India’s economic progress.
