AMPO POYAM VALVES has secured a contract to supply cryogenic gate, globe and check valves for the Power, Capture and Compression (PCC) project in Teesside, North-East England. The PCC project is part of Net Zero Teesside (NZT), a carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) development being undertaken in partnership with the Northern Endurance Partnership. The wider initiative aims to establish a zero-carbon industrial cluster in Teesside and targets the capture of up to 10 million tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions annually from industrial facilities in the Teesside and Humber regions.
The project includes a large-scale combined-cycle gas turbine power plant equipped with a post-combustion carbon capture system. Electricity generated from the plant after carbon capture will be supplied to the UK grid, while captured and conditioned carbon dioxide will be compressed at high pressure before being transported through an offshore pipeline for permanent storage.
The high-pressure compression system has a capacity of 4 million tonnes of COâ‚‚ per year. It is also designed to receive carbon dioxide from additional industrial emitters connected to the local gathering network. Net Zero Teesside Power Ltd a joint venture between BP and Equinor, is developing the project. Technip Energies is serving as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
Under its contract, AMPO POYAM VALVES will supply a range of cryogenic gate, globe and check valves for the project. The first valves are scheduled for delivery in September 2026, with the remaining equipment planned for delivery during 2027. The valves will form part of the project’s power generation, carbon capture and compression infrastructure, where equipment must operate reliably under demanding temperature and pressure conditions.
The contract adds to AMPO POYAM VALVES’ participation in projects involving carbon capture and compression infrastructure and expands its presence in the UK decarbonisation market. The Net Zero Teesside project is part of wider efforts to develop carbon capture and storage infrastructure in the UK.
The Teesside and Humber industrial regions contain major energy-intensive industries, making carbon capture an important component of plans to reduce industrial emissions. Through the contract, AMPO POYAM VALVES will provide engineered valve solutions for a major CCUS project while supporting the development of infrastructure for the transportation and storage of captured carbon dioxide.
