Ambuja Cements Limited, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has reported a strong performance for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, driven by higher premium product sales, operational efficiency and disciplined cost management. The company recorded a 27% quarter-on-quarter increase in EBITDA per tonne to ₹931, reflecting improved profitability despite higher input costs during the quarter.
The company began FY27 on a positive note by strengthening its product mix through higher trade sales and an increased contribution from premium cement brands. Operational improvements, better energy efficiency and continuous cost optimisation helped reduce operating costs by ₹206 per tonne on a sequential basis, leading to a 331 basis point improvement in EBITDA margin to 16.7%.
Commenting on the results, Vinod Bahety, Whole Time Director and CEO, Ambuja Cements Limited, said the company remains focused on value-led growth, premiumisation and operational excellence. He noted that while temporary cost pressures emerged due to geopolitical developments in West Asia, disciplined execution and efficiency initiatives enabled the company to improve profitability. He added that Ambuja Cements remains on track to reduce production costs further and expand its manufacturing capacity to 119 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by the end of FY27.
The company currently has an installed cement capacity of 109 MTPA and is progressing with expansion projects across Dahej, Salai Banwa, Bathinda, Jodhpur, Kalamboli and Warisaliganj. Trial production has already commenced at several new facilities, while additional projects are scheduled for commissioning during the year. A new clinker line at Maratha is expected to become operational in 2027.
Ambuja Cements maintained a strong financial position during the quarter with a debt-free balance sheet, a net worth of ₹71,954 crore and cash and cash equivalents of ₹844 crore. The company also retained the highest AAA/A1+ credit ratings from CRISIL and CARE, providing a strong foundation to support its ongoing capital expenditure and growth plans.
Sustainability continued to remain a key priority. During the quarter, the company partnered with UK-based Leilac Limited to establish one of the world’s largest commercial-scale low-carbon cement production projects. It also received GreenPro certification from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for its blended cement portfolio and secured GRIHA certification across its complete blended cement range, strengthening its leadership in sustainable construction materials.
The company also accelerated digital transformation initiatives across manufacturing, cybersecurity and business operations. Investments in artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, automation and data analytics have improved operational visibility, efficiency and decision-making across key business functions.
Ambuja Cements further strengthened its market presence through branding campaigns for premium products, customer engagement programmes and technical support initiatives. During the quarter, its technical services team conducted over 36,000 project site engagements, organised hundreds of technical workshops and generated more than 3 lakh customer leads.
Looking ahead, the company expects short-term challenges from higher fuel costs and seasonal demand softness during the monsoon. However, it remains optimistic about the long-term outlook for the Indian cement industry, supported by continued investments in infrastructure, urban development and housing.
