ABB Introduces GCP100 Gas Chromatograph with Built-in Cybersecurity

Manufacturing-News

ABB has unveiled the GCP100, the first gas chromatograph of its kind to integrate advanced cybersecurity features and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, setting a new benchmark for safe, real-time gas analysis across the natural gas, biogas, oil, and petrochemical industries. As the latest innovation within ABB’s new GCPro series, the GCP100 empowers plant operators to monitor process stability and product quality in real time while maintaining robust protection against digital threats. By embedding encryption and network security directly into the analyzer, ABB eliminates the need for third-party connections—closing common cybersecurity gaps and ensuring secure data transmission in critical industrial environments.

“ABB’s next-generation gas chromatographs combine cutting-edge digitalization with decades of engineering expertise,” said Jean-René Roy, Global Business Line Manager, ABB Measurement & Analytics. “The launch of the GCP100 marks a major step forward in process analytics. For over 60 years, ABB has led advancements in gas chromatograph technology, providing reliable, real-time gas analysis that industries depend on.”

Designed for versatility and precision, the GCP100 offers broad application flexibility and high analytical accuracy, while optimizing gas sample and carrier gas consumption. Its energy-efficient architecture enables continuous system monitoring with minimal maintenance, making it a powerful solution for operators seeking performance without complexity.

Operating across an extended temperature range of 60°C to 100°C (140°F to 212°F) and featuring a detection capability as low as 1 part per million (ppm), the GCP100 is suited for a wide variety of industrial applications. The analyzer’s modular design, 4-inch gesture-controlled display, and dynamic QR code functionality further simplify maintenance—helping operators reduce downtime by up to 75 percent.

The system also integrates seamlessly with ABB’s digital ecosystem, including My Measurement Assistant+ and ABB Ability™ Genix Copilot, enabling immediate access to documentation, diagnostics, spare parts data, and predictive maintenance tools. Engineered for ultra-low power consumption of just 12 watts, the GCP100 supports energy efficiency targets while minimizing installation and operating costs. Its compact design allows for smaller or shelterless installations, significantly reducing the need for extensive HVAC systems and lowering total cost of ownership—making it the most cost-efficient gas chromatograph in its class.
