Optomec, a global leader in additive manufacturing hardware and software, has announced the launch of its Aerosol Jet Education Platform, a comprehensive learning solution designed to equip students with practical skills in printed electronics and advanced 3D manufacturing. The platform is aimed at universities and technical institutes seeking to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial applications.
Built on Optomec’s proprietary Aerosol Jet fine feature printing technology, the platform integrates purpose-built hardware, user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI) software, and a structured curriculum. This combination enables students to gain hands-on experience in designing, optimizing, and validating additive manufacturing processes aligned with industry standards. The system is designed to be cost-effective and scalable, allowing institutions to expand their training capabilities over time.
Each unit is delivered with Module One, which includes pre-programmed toolpaths and instructor-led lab exercises. These labs provide 10 hands-on analog electronics outcomes along with post-process validation techniques. The platform’s modular Lab Library supports progressive learning across key areas such as conductive trace printing, passive component fabrication, strain gauge calibration, antenna design, and multilayer circuit manufacturing. It also incorporates foundational lessons in materials science and process optimization.
Additional modules can be activated through software upgrades, unlocking advanced material capabilities, automated toolpath generation, and graduate-level curriculum content. These enhancements enable institutions to extend the platform’s use into advanced research and specialized training applications.
With more than 700 systems deployed across over 200 customers globally, including leading organizations such as GE, NASA, and Lockheed Martin, Optomec brings decades of industrial expertise to the education sector. The Aerosol Jet Education Platform reflects this experience by delivering industry-aligned training that prepares students for careers in electronics, aerospace, and life sciences.
Robert Yusin, President and CEO of Optomec, stated that the platform is designed to provide students with direct exposure to modern manufacturing tools and workflows. Liu Ziqiang, General Manager and CEO of YUNS Technology, highlighted the value of the collaboration in enhancing student readiness for high-tech careers and research opportunities. Optomec continues to focus on advancing additive manufacturing technologies, supporting both industrial innovation and the development of a skilled, future-ready workforce.
