HCLSoftware, the enterprise software division of HCLTech, has announced its intention to acquire Wobby, an early-stage startup specialising in AI-powered Data Analyst agents. Wobby is headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium, and focuses on enabling intuitive data analysis for enterprise data environments.
The move comes as HCLSoftware’s Data & AI business, operated through Actian, continues to experience strong demand for metadata management, data governance, and data catalog solutions. The division has recorded steady growth over the past five years, driven by rising enterprise adoption of structured data management platforms. The addition of agent-based AI analytics is expected to further enhance how customers interact with and extract insights from complex datasets.
Wobby’s platform allows users to query large and intricate data sets using natural language, delivering actionable insights in real time. Its proprietary semantic layer and agent-based architecture are designed to understand business context, automate analytical workflows, and produce reliable, scalable outputs. These capabilities complement the knowledge graph functionality of the Actian Data Intelligence Platform.
Marc Potter, CEO of Actian and Portfolio General Manager of HCLSoftware’s Data & AI division, said customers are increasingly seeking self-service analytics supported by trustworthy AI insights. He noted that integrating Wobby’s large language model–driven analytics with Actian’s governed semantic framework will enable context-rich, accurate decision-making and provide a strong foundation for enterprise-scale generative AI adoption.
Amra Dorjbayar, CEO and Co-Founder of Wobby, said the company is redefining business intelligence by developing AI agents that not only respond to user queries but are also evolving toward proactive analytics by automatically surfacing insights. She added that combining Wobby’s technology with the Actian Data Intelligence Platform will deliver a differentiated and powerful approach to enterprise data management. The transaction is expected to be completed by February 2026.
