Calderys and Binzagr have formalized a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening Calderys’ footprint in the Middle East through the development of a new refractory manufacturing facility. This collaboration builds on Calderys’ established presence in the region and the long-standing cooperation between HWI—Calderys’ Americas brand—and Binzagr, which spans more than two decades. The partnership is expected to enhance Calderys’ capacity to deliver tailored support and solutions to customers throughout the region. Production is planned to start in April 2026.

The new facility covers 16,300 square meters and will be based in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. It will house an advanced monolithics production line designed to manufacture dense and lightweight refractory castables, along with a dedicated line for precast shapes and lances. The plant is primarily intended to meet the growing demands of the Saudi market, which is the largest in the Middle East for refractory solutions.

Michel Cornelissen, President and CEO of Calderys, stated “This collaboration marks a key milestone in the growth strategy of the Calderys Group and reflects our strong momentum in the region. It reinforces our commitment to serving Middle Eastern customers with increased responsiveness while maintaining the high quality and reliability they rely on.”

Sheikh Abdullah Binzagr, Chairman of Binzagr, commented “We are pleased to strengthen this partnership, supporting the region’s supply chain for essential industrial materials. Backed by more than thirty years of experience and deep regional market insight, this investment reflects our dedication to sustainable industrial progress and aligns with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.”

The Jubail site will be operated by Calderys and will produce high-performance refractory products under both the HWI and Calderys brands. The facility will also integrate advanced safety systems, technology-driven manufacturing, and comprehensive quality control capabilities. This initiative demonstrates both companies’ commitment to key regional sectors, including steel, aluminum, cement, and petrochemical industries.

Aurélien Cadars, Senior Vice President EMEA at Calderys, said “We appreciate the trust Binzagr has placed in Calderys. This project represents the most significant investment made in the EMEA region in recent years and reinforces our focus on innovation, operational excellence, and local product availability. Customers will gain access to a broader portfolio, faster delivery timelines, and enhanced technical support.”

Sheikh Ahmed Binzagr, Board Member of Binzagr, concluded “This collaboration unites the strengths and experience of two well-established industry leaders. We are confident it will play a pivotal role in advancing the industrial value chain in Saudi Arabia.”

Calderys supports foundries globally with a broad range of refractory solutions tailored to modern melting and pouring processes. Its custom-engineered ladle linings optimize heat retention, enhance safety during metal transfer, and extend operational life. The company offers a complete portfolio of materials and installation methods, including monolithic linings and prefabricated shapes, backed by extensive field expertise and technical support.
