Delhivery, India’s largest fully integrated logistics services provider, has launched Freight Index One, an open platform designed to bring data-driven transparency to the country’s freight and trucking ecosystem. The new service offers historical, real-time, and forward-looking Full Truckload (FTL) pricing insights for transporters, fleet operators, shippers, and 3PL logistics providers. It covers major trucking corridors across India and includes both open and closed container vehicle categories.
According to Rohan Anand, Head of Data Science at Delhivery, the initiative addresses a long-standing gap in India’s logistics market. “Unlike global benchmarks such as the Cass Freight Index or the Freightos Baltic Index (FBX), India lacks a standardized reference for freight pricing. This leads to routing inefficiencies, cost uncertainty during peak seasons, and uneven access to critical information. Freight Index One uses nearly a decade of Delhivery’s market intelligence, incorporating variables such as supply fluctuations, route viability, seasonality, and macroeconomic indicators like fuel costs, toll rates, and taxes,” he explained.
The platform is built to serve as a trusted benchmark for freight pricing, helping industry participants plan routes, manage budgets, and optimize load utilization with reliable data. It also aims to support better decision-making by providing consistent and structured pricing visibility across lanes.
Kapil Bharati, Chief Technology Officer at Delhivery, added, “Our goal with Freight Index One is to democratize access to freight rate data. By engaging a wide network of industry partners—brokers, transporters, and shippers—we will refine the accuracy and expand the coverage of the index. The more feedback we receive, the stronger and more representative the model becomes. This open-access approach will enable efficient price benchmarking and smarter rate negotiations across the ecosystem.”
With a presence across 18,850+ pin codes and a customer base exceeding 48,000 enterprises, Delhivery continues to strengthen its role as a technology-driven leader in logistics. Having fulfilled over 4 billion shipments since inception, the company provides a complete suite of services—including express parcel delivery, partial and full truckload freight, cross-border logistics, and supply chain solutions—cementing its commitment to building a more transparent and efficient logistics network for India.
