IMI has secured a contract worth more than $3 million to supply a valve package for the 1.5 GW Franklin Farms Power Station in Louisiana, a combined-cycle power plant being developed to support electricity demand from artificial intelligence and data centre infrastructure. The project is located at the Franklin Farms Megasite in northeast Louisiana and is being delivered by engineering, procurement and construction contractor Kiewit Corp. The power station will comprise two combined-cycle units designed to provide high efficiency and operational flexibility.

Under the contract, IMI will supply a turbine bypass system, attemperators and a control valve package. The equipment will support plant responsiveness, safety and efficiency, particularly in applications requiring consistent power generation and rapid control. Priyavrath Kathavi, VP Sales, Process Automation at IMI, said the contract would allow the company to support reliable and efficient power generation as customers expand capacity to meet growing electricity demand from AI and digital infrastructure.

Natural gas combined-cycle technology is used in power generation applications requiring fast response and stable operation under sustained electrical loads. The technology also produces lower emissions than conventional coal-fired generation. IMI said the Franklin Farms project builds on its experience supporting combined-cycle power projects across North America. The company works with EPC contractors and plant developers on valve systems and related equipment, with a focus on standardised designs, project documentation and delivery schedules.

“Our ability to align closely with project partners and provide proven valve solutions is critical for projects of this nature,”Mr Kathavi said. “Projects like Franklin Farms, which operate in the AI and data centre sphere, require not just a deep understanding of the industry, but also precision, flexibility and technical confidence from day one.”

The project comes as electricity demand from data centres and AI computing infrastructure increases the need for additional generation capacity. Combined-cycle plants can provide dispatchable power and operational flexibility for large electricity loads. IMI is currently supporting detailed engineering activities for the Franklin Farms project. Equipment deliveries will be scheduled in line with the plant’s construction programme.

The valve package forms part of the plant’s control and steam-cycle systems, where accurate regulation of pressure, temperature and flow is required for safe and efficient operation. The project also extends IMI’s work with North American power-sector customers and EPC contractors. The company provides engineered valve and flow-control solutions for applications where operating conditions require high levels of reliability and control. With the Franklin Farms contract, IMI will supply equipment for a large-scale power generation project supporting the growing electricity requirements associated with AI, digital infrastructure and data centre development in the United States.
