Hyundai Material Handling has expanded its B-X range of high-voltage electric counterbalance forklifts with the introduction of new 10-13 tonne and 16-18 tonne models. The expanded range now covers lifting capacities from 4 to 18 tonnes, extending electric forklift applications into sectors and operating environments traditionally served by diesel-powered trucks.
The B-X programme was introduced in stages, with the 4-9 tonne models launched in 2025. The latest additions include the 100B-X, 120B-X and 130B-X LC600 models, along with the 160B-X and 180B-X LC600. The new trucks are designed for higher-capacity material handling and intensive outdoor operations.
Electric forklifts have become established in warehouse and industrial applications, particularly in lower-capacity segments. However, the transition to electric power becomes more demanding as lifting capacity, operating hours and environmental conditions increase. Higher-capacity trucks require greater power and battery capacity, while many heavy-duty applications involve extended outdoor operation throughout the year.
Hyundai’s B-X range uses high-voltage battery architecture to address these requirements. The 4-9 tonne models operate with systems ranging from approximately 309V to 348V, while the 10-18 tonne models use a 618V system. The higher voltage allows the trucks to deliver the power required for intensive handling while reducing electrical current, limiting heat generation and supporting energy efficiency.
The heavier B-X models are intended for applications across ports, shipbuilding, timber processing, metal production, construction materials, manufacturing and logistics. These sectors often require forklifts to operate outdoors in rain, cold temperatures, dust and other challenging conditions. Hyundai has combined established chassis and mast architectures with dedicated electric drivetrains, battery systems and control technology for the B-X range. Key components are protected to IP67, while selected electronic systems achieve IP69K protection.
The battery system features liquid cooling, thermal management and integrated heating to maintain operating temperatures across a wide range of conditions. The forklifts have also undergone environmental testing covering water spray, flooding and cold-climate endurance.
Raymond Galavazi, Senior Product Manager, Hyundai Material Handling Europe, said, “Completing the B-X range means that electrification is no longer limited to the lower-capacity forklift segments. Customers across a wide range of industries can now consider high-voltage electric trucks from 4-18 tonnes, also for demanding outdoor applications where high capacity and intensive operation are required.”
The completion of the B-X range reflects the expansion of electric powertrains into heavier material handling applications across the European market. With capacities now extending to 18 tonnes, Hyundai is targeting industrial operations where high lifting capacity and sustained outdoor use are required.
