LK Metrology has introduced a new range of Ethernet-enabled laser scanners across its coordinate measuring machine (CMM) portfolio, giving manufacturers faster data communication and easier integration with modern production networks. The new scanners are designed to improve inspection efficiency and support data-intensive measurement applications. By using industry-standard Ethernet communication, the systems offer greater interoperability and simpler integration into connected manufacturing environments.

The new range includes the LC15DX, L100NX and SLK25 line scanners, along with the XC65DX and XC65DXLS cross scanners. The non-contact sensors are designed for automated dimensional inspection and high-speed 3D surface digitisation. The scanners can quickly capture freeform surfaces, complex geometries and delicate components that may be difficult or time-consuming to measure using conventional touch-probe systems. This allows manufacturers to collect larger volumes of measurement data while reducing inspection time.

Although the communication technology has been upgraded, the measurement performance of the scanners remains unchanged. The Ethernet-enabled models maintain the high-performance specifications and accuracy levels of the earlier SDI-based systems. This allows users to adopt modern connectivity without having to compromise measurement quality.

LK Metrology is also offering an intelligent sensor interface controller in standard 19-inch rack-mount and desktop versions. The controller supports laser scanner retrofits on several popular CMM brands while allowing customers to retain their existing machine controller. This provides manufacturers with a practical route to upgrade their inspection systems without replacing the complete CMM.

The new scanners are supported by FOCUS, LK Metrology’s point cloud inspection software. FOCUS compares scanned point cloud data with nominal CAD geometry, helping users carry out part-to-CAD inspection more efficiently. Colour maps and graphical reports show deviations, making it easier to identify dimensional variations and assess part quality.

Laser scanning can help manufacturers reduce inspection times, identify production deviations earlier, lower scrap and rework, improve assembly fit and performance, and support product reliability. Ethernet probe-ready configurations are available across LK Metrology’s main CMM platforms, including ALTERA C, ALTERA S, ALTERA M, ALTERA SF, ALTERA SL, MAXIMA and HC90.

Dedicated probe integration kits and clear controller labelling are provided to simplify installation and confirm network readiness. SDI-based scanners will continue to be available for customers operating legacy systems. The new Ethernet-enabled range is available worldwide and provides manufacturers with faster communication, flexible integration and a platform that can support future sensor technologies and advanced metrology applications.
