CAMIO 2026 R1 from LK Metrology now provides comprehensive support for the Renishaw REVO 5-axis scanning probe system, giving manufacturers greater flexibility to inspect complex components while maintaining measurement accuracy. The new support addresses the growing need for faster inspection as manufacturers deal with increasingly complex geometries, tighter tolerances and higher production volumes.

Traditional coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection can require substantial movement of the machine structure between measurement points. This can increase inspection times, particularly when components contain intricate features. The REVO system uses synchronised 5-axis motion, allowing the probe head to move quickly while reducing the need for extensive machine movement. Combined with CAMIO 2026, this capability can help manufacturers shorten inspection cycles and improve CMM utilisation.

CAMIO supports a range of REVO measurement strategies, including sweep scanning, head-touch measurements, multi-axis scanning paths, optimised probe movements and automated measurement path planning. These functions enable quality teams to collect high-density measurement data while improving inspection efficiency on complex components.

Another key advantage is CAMIO’s ability to provide a common software environment for different CMMs and measurement technologies. The platform supports bridge, horizontal arm and gantry CMMs, along with touch-trigger probes, analogue scanning probes, laser scanners and Renishaw REVO 5-axis systems.

Using one software platform can help manufacturers standardise programming and reporting across multiple machines and facilities. It can also reduce training requirements and simplify software management. CAMIO 2026 also supports offline programming. Inspection programs can be developed, tested and optimised away from the CMM before being transferred to the machine. This can reduce machine downtime, speed up program preparation and allow metrology teams to make better use of inspection equipment.

Integration with REVO-equipped CMMs is enabled through the I++/DME client/server architecture. CAMIO operates as an I++ client over standard TCP/IP networks and communicates with the I++ server running on the UCC controller. The standards-based approach allows manufacturers to use existing metrology infrastructure without requiring proprietary modifications. It also provides greater flexibility for organisations operating mixed-brand CMM environments.

With REVO support, CAMIO expands its range of compatible inspection technologies and gives manufacturers a pathway to adopt advanced 5-axis measurement without changing their core inspection software. By combining offline programming, multi-sensor support and advanced 5-axis inspection strategies, CAMIO 2026 is designed to help manufacturers improve measurement speed, simplify workflows and increase flexibility across modern quality-control operations.
