Shree Refrigerations Limited (SRL), a leading Indian manufacturer of advanced refrigeration and HVAC systems for the defence and marine sectors, has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Karad in Maharashtra, marking a major expansion of its production capabilities. The facility was inaugurated by Vice Admiral B Sivakumar, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, Indian Navy.
Spread across more than six acres, the new manufacturing complex is equipped with advanced production technologies, including robotic welding systems, laser cutting equipment, precision bending machines, and integrated surface treatment facilities such as shot blasting and painting. The expansion adds nearly 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space, with provisions to double the capacity through an additional 50,000 square feet in the future.
The facility has also been developed in accordance with Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) standards, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices. The investment strengthens SRL’s position as a key domestic supplier of specialised HVAC and refrigeration systems for the Indian Navy and other strategic sectors while supporting India’s efforts to build a self-reliant defence manufacturing ecosystem.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Vice Admiral B Sivakumar highlighted the growing importance of indigenous manufacturing in strengthening the country’s defence preparedness. He noted that investments in modern production infrastructure are essential for building resilient domestic supply chains and enhancing India’s capabilities in the marine and defence sectors under the national vision of self-reliance.
RG Shende, Chairman and Managing Director of Shree Refrigerations Limited, said the new facility represents another milestone in the company’s growth journey and reinforces its commitment to delivering advanced, reliable and high-quality solutions for defence, marine and industrial applications. He added that the initial phase of operations will focus on improving manufacturing efficiency, increasing production capacity and strengthening supply chain integration to reduce lead times and improve execution capabilities. According to Mr Shende, the expansion is also expected to generate employment opportunities in the region while contributing to the development of a stronger domestic manufacturing base aligned with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.
With nearly 35 years of experience in refrigeration technologies, SRL has emerged as a specialised player in defence manufacturing over the past decade. The company was listed on the stock exchange in August 2025 and has reported robust financial growth during FY26, driven by higher project execution, improved operational efficiencies and increased demand from strategic sectors. Guided by its philosophy of delivering world-class indigenous engineering solutions, SRL continues to strengthen its contribution to India’s defence and industrial manufacturing landscape.
