Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has received formal recognition from the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), operating under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, as an Awarding Body under the Dual Category framework. The recognition marks an important step in strengthening India’s medical technology manufacturing ecosystem by creating structured pathways for industry-focused skill development and certification.
The recognition agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from NCVET and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Representing the AMTZ ecosystem were Dilip Kumar Chekuri, Chief Executive Officer of AIC-AMTZ MediValley, and Naresh Nitturi, National Coordinator of the Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium.
The recognition authorizes AMTZ to assess, certify, and award qualifications to learners trained through institutions and training centres owned or fully managed by the organization. This enables AMTZ to independently deliver specialized programmes that meet national quality benchmarks while remaining closely aligned with the evolving needs of the medical device manufacturing industry.
As part of the approval process, NCVET has also cleared a new skill qualification titled Production Associate – Manufacturing (Medical Device) at NSQF Level 4.5. The programme has been developed to prepare candidates for modern medical device manufacturing environments by focusing on practical skills, quality systems, production processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
India’s medical technology sector has been witnessing rapid expansion, supported by increasing domestic manufacturing, healthcare infrastructure investments, and rising demand for advanced medical devices. Industry leaders believe that the availability of a skilled workforce will play a critical role in supporting this growth and strengthening India’s position in global MedTech supply chains.
Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ, said the recognition represents a significant milestone in developing specialized talent for the healthcare technology sector. He noted that building a globally competitive medical device industry requires a strong foundation of skilled professionals who understand modern manufacturing standards and industry requirements.
Dilip Kumar Chekuri stated that the recognition will help create training programmes closely connected to industry needs, ensuring that learners acquire practical competencies that improve employability and support innovation-driven manufacturing.Naresh Nitturi highlighted the growing importance of structured skill development in the biomedical and medical technology sectors. He emphasized that nationally recognized certification pathways will help bridge skill gaps while creating better career opportunities for aspiring professionals.
Through this recognition, AMTZ further strengthens its role as a key contributor to India’s MedTech ecosystem, supporting workforce development, industrial growth, and the country’s ambition to become a leading global destination for medical device manufacturing and healthcare technology innovation.
