Schaeffler India Limited has announced the launch of an advanced computational research infrastructure at the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) in Bengaluru, strengthening its long-term research and innovation partnership with the Indian Institute of Science. The initiative is aimed at significantly enhancing high-performance computing capabilities for research programs focused on materials science, energy systems, sustainable mobility, advanced analytics, and engineering simulations.

Developed as part of Schaeffler India’s academic and research engagement initiatives, the upgraded facility will support large-scale simulations, data-intensive modeling, and computational research activities across multiple scientific and industrial disciplines. The project includes the establishment of dedicated laboratory infrastructure, deployment of advanced in-rack cooling systems, installation of high-performance hybrid computing clusters, and power backup systems designed to support continuous and intensive research workloads.

According to Schaeffler India, the enhanced infrastructure will improve computational efficiency and enable faster and more advanced scientific analysis for research teams, startups, industry collaborators, and academic institutions. The initiative is expected to benefit faculty members at IISc, startups incubated through FSID, external startups, MSMEs, industrial research partners, and a wider ecosystem of researchers, scholars, and engineering professionals.

The company also announced the signing of a Master Research Agreement (MRA) with IISc to establish a framework for multiple future collaborative research projects between the two organizations. The agreement is expected to support long-term industry-academia partnerships in areas including sustainable mobility, engineering innovation, advanced manufacturing, digital engineering systems, and next-generation industrial technologies.

Speaking about the initiative, Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Schaeffler India, said the company remains committed to strengthening India’s research ecosystem by supporting academic institutions with advanced infrastructure, engineering capabilities, and collaborative innovation programs. He noted that strong industry-academia partnerships are critical for building future-ready engineering talent, accelerating applied research, and developing technologies relevant to India’s industrial and manufacturing growth.

Mr Kadam added that the upgraded computational infrastructure would support a broad range of interdisciplinary research activities at IISc while also strengthening collaborative research execution between Schaeffler India and academic teams. The facility is expected to support next-generation engineering and scientific projects through faster computational analysis, advanced simulations, and improved digital research capabilities.

Schaeffler India stated that the collaboration aligns with its broader focus on enabling intelligent, efficient, and sustainable motion technologies through engineering research, innovation, and advanced manufacturing capabilities. The initiative also reflects increasing collaboration between global industrial technology companies and leading Indian research institutions to accelerate innovation in areas such as electric mobility, renewable energy, digital manufacturing, advanced materials, and intelligent mobility systems.
