Zydex Group has introduced silicate mineral paint technology in India, positioning the advanced coating solution as a long-term answer to common structural and moisture-related challenges faced by buildings across the country. The launch comes at a time when India’s construction and decorative paints sector is witnessing increasing demand for performance-oriented materials that deliver durability, sustainability and long-term protection beyond aesthetics.
According to the company, Indian buildings frequently experience recurring issues such as seepage, dampness, algae formation, peeling paint and surface deterioration during humid and monsoon conditions. Zydex’s silicate mineral paint technology has been developed to address these challenges through a breathable and substrate-bonding coating system designed for Indian climatic conditions.
Unlike conventional paints that form a film layer over walls, silicate mineral paints chemically bond with the substrate. This process creates a breathable surface that allows trapped water vapour to escape while helping reduce moisture accumulation, surface damage and wall degradation.
The company stated that this technology is particularly relevant in India, where buildings are routinely exposed to high humidity, heavy rainfall and fluctuating temperatures that can significantly impact wall durability and maintenance cycles. Industry estimates cited by the company suggest that India’s paints market is currently valued at nearly ₹93,000 crore, with decorative coatings accounting for a major share of demand.
However, there is increasing interest in advanced paint technologies that provide lifecycle value, energy efficiency and improved structural protection. In several European countries, silicate paints already hold an established position within the coatings market. Zydex believes similar adoption patterns in India could create a market opportunity worth nearly ₹2,000 crore over time.
Commenting on the company’s strategy, Dr Ajay Ranka, Chairman and Managing Director of Zydex Group, said India’s construction industry is steadily moving toward building materials that combine sustainability with long-term durability and lower maintenance requirements. He stated that the company’s focus is to make silicate mineral paint technology more accessible and practical for Indian buildings while addressing real-world challenges related to moisture and weather exposure.
According to Dr Ranka, the company has already witnessed strong customer response, repeat purchases and growing interest from architects, developers and construction professionals looking for high-performance building protection systems.
Moulik Ranka, Managing Director of Zydex Group, highlighted the company’s research-driven approach toward construction technology innovation. He explained that silicate mineral paints work differently from traditional coatings because they chemically integrate with the wall substrate while maintaining breathability, a critical factor in reducing moisture-related damage over time.
He added that Zydex’s waterproofing technologies complement the paint solutions by helping strengthen building surfaces against water ingress and harsh environmental conditions. Driven by growing adoption of these technologies, the company expects nearly 50 percent year-on-year growth and aims to double turnover in the following year.
Zydex Paints currently offers a portfolio of interior and exterior silicate mineral paints specifically developed for Indian weather conditions. The exterior range is engineered to withstand sunlight, rainfall, humidity and weathering while delivering fade resistance, reduced dirt pickup and anti-peeling performance.
