JSW Steel has reported consolidated crude steel production of 23.66 lakh tonnes for February 2026. The performance reflects continued operational momentum across the company’s facilities despite temporary production impacts associated with capacity upgrades and operational adjustments.

The company noted that Blast Furnace 3 at its Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka has been under a planned shutdown since September 2025 as part of a capacity enhancement programme. The shutdown affected crude steel output at Indian operations, resulting in a year-on-year decline of approximately one percent for February 2026.

However, when production from the furnace is excluded from the previous year’s comparison base, the company recorded an estimated year-on-year growth of about eight percent. The increase was supported by the full ramp-up of operations at JSW’s VijayanagarMetallics Limited (JVML) unit.

Operational efficiency remained strong across domestic facilities. Capacity utilisation at Indian operations reached approximately 97 percent during February when the BF3 capacity is excluded. Including the furnace currently undergoing upgrades, utilisation stood at around 88 percent.

Production at the company’s Ohio facility in the United States was lower during the month due to the ramp-up phase following caster upgrades completed in January 2026. In addition, severe winter storm conditions affected operations in the region, impacting overall output.

JSW Steel is the flagship company of the US$23 billion JSW Group, which has diversified interests spanning sectors including energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, real estate, mobility, defence and digital platforms. Over the past three decades, JSW Steel has expanded from a single manufacturing facility to become one of India’s largest integrated steel producers. The company currently has a consolidated crude steel production capacity of 35.7 million tonnes per annum, including 1.5 million tonnes located in the United States. Domestic capacity stands at 34.2 million tonnes annually.

The company plans to expand its consolidated production capacity to 48.9 million tonnes over the next four years as part of its growth strategy. Its Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka remains the largest single-location steel manufacturing complex in India, with a capacity of 17.5 million tonnes per annum. JSW Steel works in collaboration with JFE Steel of Japan to access advanced technologies that enable the production of specialised steel grades used in sectors such as infrastructure, automotive manufacturing, electrical applications and consumer appliances.

The company has received several recognitions for its sustainability initiatives, including consecutive Steel Sustainability Champion awards from the World Steel Association from 2019 to 2025. JSW Steel has also committed to reducing carbon emissions from steelmaking operations by 42 percent by 2030 and aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2050
