JSW Steel recorded consolidated crude steel production of 24.75 lakh tonnes for January 2026. Output from Indian operations was marginally higher compared to the same period last year, despite capacity constraints arising from the ongoing shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 at the Vijayanagar facility. The furnace has been under shutdown since September 2025 for capacity enhancement and is scheduled to be recommissioned by the end of the fourth quarter of FY26.

The temporary shutdown impacted overall capacity utilisation during the month. Excluding Blast Furnace 3, utilisation levels at Indian operations stood at approximately 93 percent, while utilisation including the furnace was at around 85 percent. Production at the company’s Ohio operations in the United States was also lower, primarily due to a planned outage for caster upgrades between mid-December 2025 and mid-January 2026.

JSW Steel, the flagship company of the USD 23 billion JSW Group, operates across steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, paints, real estate, defence, mobility, and digital platforms. Over the past three decades, the company has expanded from a single plant into India’s leading integrated steel producer, with a consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 MTPA, including 1.5 MTPA in the United States. Domestic capacity currently stands at 34.2 MTPA, with expansion plans expected to raise consolidated capacity to 48.9 MTPA over the next four years.

The company’s Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka remains the largest single-location steel manufacturing site in India, with a capacity of 17.5 MTPA. JSW Steel continues to invest in technology and innovation through its strategic partnership with JFE Steel of Japan, supporting the production of high-value special steels for infrastructure, automotive, electrical, and appliance applications. The company is widely recognised for its sustainability performance, operational excellence, and commitment to emissions reduction, renewable energy adoption, and responsible steelmaking.
