At a major trade exhibition such as IFEX, industry participants evaluate not only product displays but also long-term technological capabilities. Among the established names in the foundry and steel sector, Electromag stand with its latest developments while reinforcing its four decades of presence in the industry. During the exhibition, Vinayak Kamath, General Manager – Marketing at Electromag Devices Pvt. Ltd. and Electromag JOST, outlined the company’s operational structure and current focus areas.

The first, Electromag Devices Pvt. Ltd., focuses on lifting magnet solutions and magnetic separation systems, including drum separators. The second vertical, Electromag JOST, specialises in vibrating equipment — systems used for furnace charging, resonance conveyors for sugar industries, and various foundry applications. The third arm, Electromag Methods, supplies crane components and accessories such as brakes, limit switches and master controllers.

Together, these three verticals allow the company to offer a complete package to foundries and heavy industries, rather than just individual products.

Circular Lifting Magnet on Display

At the exhibition stand, the main prototype on display is the circular lifting magnet — a core product in the company’s portfolio. These electromagnets operate through a controlled power supply and are widely used in scrap handling.

They are designed to lift materials of varying densities, including pig iron, sponge iron and mild steel scrap. In practical terms, this means they can be used for loading and unloading trucks or directly feeding scrap into furnaces — an essential process in foundries and steel plants.

While the lifting magnet itself is not a new product launch, it represents the company’s longstanding expertise in the field. What is new, however, is the technology supporting it.

Advanced Anodised Aluminium Technology

One of the highlights at the booth is a special anodised aluminium conductor used within lifting magnets and magnetic separators. The company has established its own anodising line in Wapi, Gujarat — a significant milestone.

According to Kamath, this places Electromag among a very small group globally. There are only three similar lines in Europe, making Electromag the fourth in the world to operate such a facility. The in-house anodising capability strengthens quality control and ensures consistent performance of the conductors used in their magnetic systems.

This development reflects the company’s focus on improving durability and efficiency in its core products, rather than simply expanding its catalogue.

A Regular Presence at IFEX

Electromag is no newcomer to IFEX. The company has been participating in the exhibition since its early years, regularly showcasing its solutions across different regions — whether in Kolkata, North India or the South.

This year’s edition has been particularly encouraging. Being held in one of India’s key commercial hubs, the exhibition has drawn strong footfall from the very first day. Visitor numbers have been steady, with enquiries coming in from across segments of the foundry industry.

Kamath noted that the response during the first day and a half has already been promising, with customers continuously visiting the stand. The expectation is that interest will remain strong through the remaining days of the exhibition.

Diversified Solutions for Foundry Needs

A key strength for Electromag lies in its diversified product base. Foundries visiting the stand are not looking at just one type of equipment. Instead, they can explore vibrating systems for furnace charging, lifting magnets for scrap handling and crane control equipment — all under one umbrella.

This integrated approach makes it easier for customers to source compatible solutions from a single, experienced supplier.

As the exhibition progresses, Electromag is optimistic about building new connections while strengthening existing relationships. With decades of experience behind it and a clear focus on engineering-led innovation, the company continues to position itself as a dependable partner for the foundry and material handling industries.
