Automation Expo 2022, India’s South Asia’s biggest automation event, opens today in Hall 1 of the Bombay Exhibition Centre at NEC Complex, Goregaon (E), Mumbai. Returning after the pandemic-induced gap of two years, the 15th edition has received an overwhelming response from regular exhibitors as well as startups that are riding the tech wave with innovations that complement and augment the digital transformation journey.

The Chief Guest at the Inaugural Ceremony is M K Srivastava, Executive Director – Engineering, NTPC Ltd. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion are Dr B R Mehta, former Sr. Vice President – Reliance Industries Ltd, and Dr K. Nandakumar, Chairman & Managing Director, Chemtrols Industries Pvt Ltd. Dr Mehta is also Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Board of Governors, the 47-member group of eminent technocrat CEOs and Entrepreneurs whose collective vision is the guiding spirit behind the success of the Automation Expo series.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce that Automation Expo is Getting Bigger, Better and Stronger, backed by an illustrious legacy of two decades. We are overwhelmed by the tremendous support and patronage the show enjoys from the established players of the traditional instrumentation and control industry, as well as the new entrants of the Industry 4.0 era and the startups spawned by emerging technologies,” says Dr M. Arokiaswamy, Founder & Managing Director, IED Communications, who launched Automation Exhibition in Mumbai in the year 2002. From a modest beginning with just 157 exhibitors assembled at the Nehru Centre in Worli, Mumbai, the show scaled a peak of over 1000 exhibiting companies, represented in 625 booths across two halls in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Over the last two decades, Automation Expo has witnessed dramatic changes in the manufacturing landscape of the country, contributing to the industrial growth in India in its quest for self-reliance. Along the way, the event has won praise and laurels from exhibitors and professional associations, including an Exhibition Excellence Award bestowed by Exhibition Showcase for Automation Expo 2018 as Winner of the Leading Show – Engineering Industries, for 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Automation Expo is also a recipient of the “Golden Excellence International Award” from European Continental University (ECU), Delaware, USA, at an award function held on 21st May 2017 at Bangkok – the only recipient from Asia for successfully organising the Automation Expo in India. The ECU also conferred a Doctorate in Entrepreneurship on Dr M. Arokiaswamy at a ceremony held on 6th October 2017 at Hotel Westin in Mumbai.

“Automation Expo was launched in the new millennium and has since been connecting people and creating business opportunities. That was a decade of post-liberalization when the manufacturing industry was on a rapid growth trajectory. Various policy initiatives of recent years like Make in India, Skill India, and Vocal for Local, as well as the more recent PLI Scheme, have further incentivized the manufacturing sector and made automation an imperative for new business investments”, says Jyothi Joseph, Director, IED Communications, who has been aggressively promoting this show globally.

She further adds, “the post-Covid world in general and industry in particular, is looking for more autonomous business operations. Technology today has solutions and Automation Expo is the platform where entrepreneurs can actually see how these work. By conservative estimates, we expect to see about 20,000 products and solutions on display at this edition, and a turnout of 50,000 unique visitors. The event offers unprecedented networking opportunities among vendors, system integrators and end users,”
