ZF has unveiled a new portfolio of intelligent technologies designed to accelerate the transformation of commercial vehicles into software-defined, AI-enabled mobility platforms. The innovations are being demonstrated at the company’s Commercial Vehicle (CV) Tech Day 2026, held at its test track near Hanover, ahead of the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition.

The latest technologies focus on enhancing vehicle safety, operational efficiency and fleet productivity while supporting manufacturers and operators in their transition towards connected, automated and zero-emission transportation.Recognising that the pace of commercial vehicle electrification and digitalisation varies across global markets, ZF has developed a flexible technology strategy that allows customers to modernise their vehicles without requiring complete platform redesigns. The company’s approach combines scalable electronic architectures, integrated safety systems, intelligent software and modular electrification technologies that can be adapted to different vehicle categories and regional requirements.

Rather than relying on disruptive technological shifts, ZF is pursuing a step-by-step development strategy that enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and fleet operators to continuously improve vehicle performance throughout the product lifecycle. The modular approach helps customers enhance safety, increase uptime, optimise energy efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership while protecting existing investments in vehicle platforms.

The technologies showcased during CV Tech Day highlight how software is becoming central to the operation of commercial vehicles. Advanced digital systems are capable of managing vehicle functions more intelligently, enabling predictive maintenance, improving operational efficiency and supporting the gradual introduction of autonomous driving capabilities.

Artificial intelligence also plays an increasingly important role in enhancing vehicle safety and decision-making. By integrating intelligent software with advanced motion control and safety systems, ZF aims to help manufacturers develop commercial vehicles that are better equipped to respond to complex driving environments while reducing accident risks and improving fleet reliability.

The company’s modular architecture has been designed to support a broad range of commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, distribution vehicles and city buses. This flexibility enables manufacturers to deploy common technology platforms across multiple vehicle segments while accommodating different powertrain options, including conventional, hybrid and fully electric propulsion systems.

Andreas Moser, Member of the ZF Board of Management and Head of the Commercial Vehicle Solutions Division, said the commercial vehicle industry is steadily moving toward a future defined by intelligent, connected and sustainable mobility, although the pace of transformation differs across regions and applications. He noted that ZF’s technology strategy is focused on delivering practical solutions that create immediate value while enabling customers to transition efficiently toward the long-term goals of zero accidents and zero emissions.

With its latest innovations, ZF continues to strengthen its position as a leading technology partner for the global commercial vehicle industry. By combining advanced software, intelligent electronics, integrated safety systems and scalable electrification solutions, the company is helping manufacturers and fleet operators prepare for the next generation of digital, connected and sustainable transportation.
