ZEISS, a global leader in precision optics and metrology, has inaugurated its seventh Quality Excellence Center (QEC) in Hyderabad, further strengthening its commitment to advancing innovation and precision manufacturing in India’s aerospace and high-tech industries. The new facility spans 4,500 square feet, with an additional 1,500 square feet reserved for future expansion. It showcases ZEISS’s latest technologies in precision measurement, quality control, and industrial automation. The center was inaugurated in the presence of Praveen PA, Director of Aerospace, Defense, and Logistics, Government of Telangana, along with senior members of ZEISS India’s leadership team.
Speaking at the launch, Aveen Padmaprabha, Business Head – Industrial Quality Solutions, ZEISS India & Neighboring Markets, emphasized the growing role of automation and digitalization in manufacturing. “Automation and Industry 4.0 go hand in hand — that’s where the future of manufacturing lies,” he said. “Hyderabad has always been a strategic location for ZEISS, given its strong aerospace foundation and the emerging medical device manufacturing ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. With this new center, we aim to provide closer technical support and demonstrate our most advanced solutions tailored to these industries.”
He added that the company’s systems are built around Quality 4.0 and Manufacturing 4.0, integrated with software like ZEISS PiWEB and enhanced by AI-driven capabilities for smarter, more efficient operations. The Hyderabad QEC will feature ZEISS’s complete portfolio of metrology and inspection systems — including coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), surface and form measurement equipment, 3D scanners, X-ray technologies, and related software and service solutions. For aerospace applications, the center includes the ZEISS PRISMO CMM equipped with rotary measurement for turbine blades and ZEISS Aerofoil software, delivering industry-leading precision and productivity.
At the event, Praveen PA, Director of Aerospace, Defense, and Logistics, Government of Telangana, reaffirmed the state’s focus on building a world-class aerospace ecosystem. “Aerospace investments are a top priority for Telangana. With global OEMs choosing Hyderabad as their base, ZEISS’s decision to establish a technology hub here underscores our growing capabilities in manufacturing and innovation,” he said.
Beyond serving its customer base, the Hyderabad QEC is designed as an open platform for industry, academia, and startups. The facility will provide pay-per-use access to advanced equipment and foster collaborative research and development, supporting Telangana’s goal of becoming a global center for advanced manufacturing and innovation.
ZEISS’s investment in Hyderabad reinforces its long-term support for the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. With southern India witnessing rapid industrial growth — aerospace and advanced manufacturing expanding nearly fivefold, and electronics manufacturing growing tenfold — the new QEC is positioned to play a vital role in enhancing quality standards, precision, and technological progress across the region.
