The third edition of the World Health Innovation Forum (WHIF) began today at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ), opening a three-day global gathering dedicated to advancing health-tech innovation. Each day of the forum is framed around a distinct theme: Ignite, Transform, and Sustain, reflecting the progression from ideation to impactful and lasting change in global healthcare.

The event formally launched the Global MedTech Expo 2025, featuring an expansive showcase of next-generation medical technologies, emerging medtech enterprises, and pioneering healthcare solutions across numerous exhibition stalls. More than 2,000 participants attended the inaugural session, which featured keynote messages from prominent global leaders, including Louise Agersnap, Head of the WHO Innovation Hub in Geneva; Dr  Ravi Ramamurthy, University Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Emerging Markets at Northeastern University; Dr Nico Schittekae, Health, Welfare & Sport Counselor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India; Dr Issa, Director of Hopital Albert Royer in Senegal; and Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of AMTZ.

Dr Sharma reflected on AMTZ’s journey from an isolated site to a thriving nerve center for India’s medtech ecosystem. He emphasized the forum’s mission to drive collective action toward #HealthEquity, while noting the complete achievement of last year’s commitments—ranging from deploying indigenous medical devices across 100 hospitals to expanding hospital-technology capabilities nationwide.

Throughout WHIF25, experts and sector leaders are spearheading a diverse lineup of workshops and panel discussions. Topics include financing and scaling healthcare innovations led by the International Finance Corporation, communications strategies in healthcare delivery, and specialized training hosted by WHO collaborating centres, ISPOR, and other international bodies.

As a global platform, WHIF25 continues to strengthen partnerships that can reshape the future of healthcare. AMTZ—together with the Kalam Institute of Health Technology, a WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Technology Innovation—welcomes over 6,000 attendees from more than 70 countries. The forum brings together government representatives, industry executives, academics, researchers, clinicians, and technologists to exchange insights, demonstrate breakthrough solutions, and build alliances aimed at improving accessibility, affordability, and quality of care.

The AMTZ ecosystem—its scientists, engineers, clinicians, startups, and innovators—stands at the forefront of developing technologies that are influencing not only India but also health systems around the world. Their contributions are helping shape a more resilient and equitable global health landscape. Over the next three days, the World Health Innovation Forum will continue to serve as a vibrant hub for inspiration, collaboration, and the creation of transformative solutions poised to impact global healthcare for years to come.
