VinFast’s electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, have earned the highest 5-star safety rating under India’s Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The achievement highlights VinFast’s strong engineering standards and its focus on delivering high levels of safety across all stages of vehicle design and development.
As per the official Bharat NCAP evaluation, both models received 5-star ratings in the two key assessment areas—Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP). The VF 6 scored 27.13 out of 32 points for adult safety and 44.41 out of 49 points for child safety, while the VF 7 recorded 28.54 out of 32 points in AOP and 45.25 out of 49 points in COP. These results demonstrate robust protection for occupants across varied crash scenarios.
Crash test data further reinforced the safety performance of the two vehicles. During frontal impact testing, protection scores for the head, neck, and upper legs of both the driver and front passenger reached the maximum rating of 4.000 points for both models. In side impact assessments, the VF 6 and VF 7 achieved full marks—16.000 out of 16.000 for adult occupants and 8.000 out of 8.000 for child occupants.
In pole side impact tests, which simulate high-risk collision scenarios, the head injury criteria values were measured at 109 for the VF 6 and 131 for the VF 7. Both figures are significantly below the Bharat NCAP threshold of 700, indicating effective head protection and structural integrity.
Bharat NCAP, introduced by the Government of India and aligned with global safety assessment frameworks, evaluates vehicles through rigorous crash testing protocols and awards ratings ranging from 3 to 5 stars. Achieving the highest rating confirms that the VF 6 and VF 7 meet the most stringent safety benchmarks currently applied in the Indian automotive market.
VinFast’s focus on safety has been consistently recognised across regions. Earlier, the VF 8 received a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP and was recognised with five out of six safety awards in 2024, outperforming several established global automakers.
Commenting on the milestone, Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, said the 5-star ratings validate the company’s commitment to delivering safe and reliable electric vehicles for Indian consumers. He added that VinFast will continue to invest in product advancement to ensure its EVs combine sustainability, advanced technology, and occupant protection.
Manufactured at VinFast’s facility in Tamil Nadu, the VF 6 and VF 7 are premium electric SUVs designed to meet expectations for safety, technology, and daily usability. Built on a Bharat NCAP-rated EV platform, both models come equipped with seven airbags and a suite of advanced driver assistance features, depending on the variant, including adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane assistance, and blind spot detection.
These models are a key part of VinFast’s growing electric mobility ecosystem in India, encompassing local manufacturing, retail operations, charging solutions, and aftersales support, aimed at delivering a seamless ownership experience. VinFast (NASDAQ: VFS), part of Vingroup JSC—one of Vietnam’s largest diversified conglomerates—is a dedicated electric vehicle manufacturer driven by the goal of bringing electric mobility within reach of a broad customer base. The company’s current portfolio spans electric SUVs, e-scooters and e-buses, catering to both personal and public transportation needs.
VinFast is entering a new phase of growth marked by the accelerated expansion of its global distribution and dealership footprint, alongside the scaling up of manufacturing capabilities. This expansion strategy is centred on strengthening its presence in priority markets across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
