Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (VNH), through its subsidiaries Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company and Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company, has placed an order for three Airbus H225 helicopter aircraft from Airbus Helicopters. The acquisition supports the expansion of offshore energy operations and the phased replacement of ageing fleet assets.
The latest order extends a partnership between VNH and Airbus Helicopters that has spanned over four decades. It also aligns with VNH’s long-term plan to modernise its fleet and strengthen its heavy helicopter capabilities.
Kieu Dang Hung, CEO of Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, stated that the H225 continues to demonstrate reliability, performance, and safety across offshore missions. He noted that the aircraft will play a central role in future operations, enabling the company to expand capacity while enhancing operational flexibility.
Matthieu Louvot, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, said the continued collaboration reflects mutual trust and a shared commitment to operational excellence. He added that the H225’s proven performance in demanding offshore environments makes it a preferred choice for operators like VNH.
The newly ordered helicopters will join VNH’s existing Airbus fleet, which includes Super Puma and H155 models. These aircraft are deployed across a wide range of missions, including offshore energy transport, search and rescue operations, utility services, and general passenger transport.
As part of the Super Puma family, the H225 is recognised for its ability to operate in challenging conditions. It offers extended range, high payload capacity, and advanced avionics systems designed to improve safety and reduce pilot workload. These capabilities make it particularly suitable for offshore missions that require precision and reliability.
Globally, more than 360 H225 and H225M helicopters are in service, collectively logging over one million flight hours. The aircraft is used by both civilian and military operators across multiple countries, reinforcing its reputation as a dependable platform. This order positions Vietnam Helicopter Corporation to enhance its service capabilities while maintaining high safety and performance standards in offshore aviation.
