Airbus has announced the creation of a new wholly owned subsidiary, Skywise, as part of a broader strategy to accelerate its digital transformation and expand its services portfolio. The new entity brings together Airbus’ Skywise digital platform and Navblue capabilities under a single organizational structure, aiming to deliver more cohesive and scalable digital solutions to airlines worldwide.
The formation of Skywise reflects growing demand across the aviation industry for integrated, data-driven tools that support operational efficiency and decision-making. By combining technical data analytics with flight operations expertise, the new company is positioned to serve both Airbus and non-Airbus fleet operators, offering solutions that span flight operations, maintenance, and ground services.
With approximately 750 employees distributed across key global markets including Canada, France, India, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Skywise is structured to support customers on a global scale. The integration is expected to streamline service delivery while enhancing responsiveness to evolving airline requirements.
Cristina Aguilar, Senior Vice President of Customer Services for Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, emphasized the strategic importance of the move. She noted that the digital services sector continues to experience rapid growth and that customers increasingly require interoperable, end-to-end solutions that can adapt to complex operational environments.
Since its introduction, the Skywise platform has connected more than 12,000 aircraft, transforming how aviation data is collected, shared, and analyzed. The new subsidiary builds on this foundation, expanding beyond a single platform into a comprehensive digital solutions provider. By leveraging Navblue’s established expertise in flight operations, Skywise aims to deepen its presence in the airline digital services market.
Airbus continues to position itself as more than an aircraft manufacturer, focusing on supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of their fleets—from entry into service to retirement. The consolidation of digital capabilities into a single entity is intended to enhance operational efficiency for airlines while supporting Airbus’ long-term objective of increasing services revenue through digital innovation and lifecycle optimization. The launch of Skywise marks a significant step in Airbus’ ongoing efforts to lead the aviation industry’s digital evolution while delivering measurable value to operators worldwide.
