VIAVI Solutions Inc (NASDAQ: VIAV) and QNu Labs have entered into a long-term technology partnership aimed at accelerating the development of next-generation quantum-safe cybersecurity and network intelligence solutions. The collaboration marks the first step toward forming a global consortium dedicated to open innovation in quantum-secure communications across enterprises, telecom networks, financial institutions, critical infrastructure, and research bodies.
As quantum computing moves closer to mainstream adoption, both companies say the need for highly resilient and field-deployable security architectures has never been more urgent—especially at the optical layer, where quantum technologies must coexist with large-scale physical infrastructure. Through the alliance, the two organisations will jointly build validation programs, test cases and certification mechanisms for a full spectrum of quantum-safe technologies, including post-quantum cryptography (PQC), quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum random number generation (QRNG) and hybrid PQC/QKD systems.
The partnership also includes the creation of reference architectures and deployment frameworks that map quantum-safe encryption across core networks, transport systems, RAN environments, edge layers and cloud ecosystems, ensuring backward compatibility with classical infrastructure. These specifications will help enterprises and service providers evaluate performance, strengthen trust through certification and achieve seamless crypto-agile transitions.
The joint effort will promote globally coordinated models for quantum-security readiness aligned with NIST PQC guidelines, ETSI standards and international cybersecurity initiatives. Areas of focus include system resilience, crypto-agility, scalability of QKD deployments, lifecycle management of quantum-safe systems and orchestration of secure multi-layer networks.
Sameh Yamany, Chief Technology Officer at VIAVI, noted that the shift toward quantum-safe communications can no longer be treated as a long-term aspiration, stressing the need for partners with deep expertise in both optics and quantum engineering. Sunil Gupta, CEO of QNu Labs, added that combining VIAVI’s capabilities in network intelligence with QNu’s full-stack quantum-security technology establishes the foundation for trust-centric digital infrastructure.
VIAVI is a leading provider of network test, monitoring and assurance solutions for telecommunications, cloud and enterprise networks, serving sectors including defence, aerospace, public safety, industrial, and automotive applications. QNu Labs, founded at the IIT Madras Research Park and backed by India’s National Quantum Mission, is the world’s only full-stack hybrid quantum cybersecurity provider with deployments across the USA, Australia, India and the Middle East. Its flagship platform, QShield™, delivers SaaS-based quantum-safe protection built on certified QKD, QRNG, PQC and hybrid architectures, while enQase—its U.S. subsidiary—focuses on the North American market.
