Venture Global, Inc (NYSE: VG) and Tokyo Gas Co, Ltd have announced a significant new long-term agreement for liquefied natural gas (LNG). Under the terms of the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA), Tokyo Gas will purchase 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG from Venture Global over the next 20 years, starting in 2030. This marks the seventh such deal signed by Venture Global in the past six months, bringing their total LNG commitments to 7.75 MTPA.

“We’re excited to continue our commercial momentum with Tokyo Gas,” said Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global. “Tokyo Gas has been a pioneer in the LNG industry and is a leading natural gas provider in Japan. This deal further solidifies our position as a top LNG supplier to Japan and will significantly contribute to the US-Japan balance of trade, providing Japan with a reliable and affordable source of American LNG.”

Venture Global is a prominent American LNG producer and exporter, with more than 100 MTPA of LNG capacity in production, construction, or development. The company began producing LNG at its first facility in 2022 and has since become one of the largest LNG exporters in the United States.

Venture Global’s vertically integrated business spans the entire LNG supply chain, including LNG production, natural gas transport, shipping, and regasification. Its facilities, such as Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG, and CP2 LNG, are located along the Gulf Coast in Louisiana, with plans for carbon capture and sequestration at each site.

Tokyo Gas Co, Ltd is Japan’s largest city gas provider and a leading player in the global LNG market. With a customer base of around 13 million, Tokyo Gas operates a diversified energy portfolio that includes LNG procurement, power generation, and investments in renewable energy.
