Vehant Technologies has unveiled India’s first indigenously developed millimetre-wave body scanner, introducing a new generation of passenger screening technology designed to detect both metallic and non-metallic threats with high accuracy and speed. The solution, branded as MilliView®, has been developed, designed and manufactured in India and is tailored to meet the evolving security requirements of airports, government agencies and critical infrastructure facilities.

The launch marks a significant advancement in India’s security technology landscape and reflects growing domestic capabilities in the development of sophisticated surveillance and screening systems. Developed in collaboration with IIT Delhi, the scanner combines advanced millimetre-wave imaging technology with artificial intelligence-powered threat detection to enhance security screening operations.

Unlike conventional systems that primarily focus on metallic objects, MilliView® is capable of identifying a wider range of concealed threats, including explosives, detonators, sharp-edged weapons, flammable substances, organic materials and gel-based compounds. The system performs a complete scan and threat assessment in less than five seconds, enabling faster passenger movement while maintaining stringent security standards.

The scanner uses non-ionizing millimetre-wave technology, making it safe for routine use in high-traffic environments. It has been designed to address emerging security challenges where non-metallic threats are becoming increasingly difficult to detect using traditional screening methods.

Vehant Technologies stated that the scanner has been customized for Indian operational requirements and aligns with applicable Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) guidelines. The solution incorporates specialized threat-recognition algorithms developed specifically for security scenarios encountered across Indian transportation and infrastructure networks.

Kapil Bardeja, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vehant Technologies, said that modern security agencies face a broader range of risks than ever before. He noted that many legacy screening systems were developed when metallic weapons represented the primary concern, whereas current threats increasingly involve concealed non-metallic materials.

According to the company, MilliView® addresses these challenges by combining advanced imaging capabilities with AI-based analytics, enabling security personnel to make quicker and more informed decisions. The technology has been developed to improve operational efficiency while maintaining high levels of detection accuracy.

Passenger privacy has also been incorporated into the system’s design. Instead of generating anatomical images, the scanner displays potential threat locations on a generic, gender-neutral avatar, ensuring privacy while supporting effective security screening.

Vehant Technologies plans to pursue international certifications, including ECAC approval, to expand the product’s reach beyond India. The company sees opportunities across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, where demand for advanced passenger screening solutions continues to rise.
