Vedanta Ltd, a global name in critical minerals, energy transition metals, oil & gas and power, is gearing up to present the second edition of the Jaigarh Heritage Festival on 6 and 7 December at the iconic Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur. Organised in collaboration with His Highness Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh, the festival will honour Rajasthan’s rich tapestry of music, craft and folk culture, weaving together age-old traditions with contemporary artistic expression. Over two days, visitors will discover a curated cultural showcase featuring local artisans and performers whose creative skills and heritage practices have been supported and nurtured by Vedanta.
The event will feature the Karigar Spotlight, highlighting traditional embroidery, patchwork and craftwork from regional communities, along with live performances by Khadtal, Manganiyar and Langha folk ensembles. The festival will also include the Uthori Street Play, designed to spotlight present-day social themes through the lens of theatre. Women-led Self Help Groups and micro-enterprises supported by Vedanta’s livelihood programmes will display their craft, giving audiences direct access to the state’s deep-rooted artisanal heritage.
Commenting on the association, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Ltd. and Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc Ltd., said that Rajasthan holds a special place for the company, adding that cultural preservation must advance alongside development. She shared that the Jaigarh Heritage Festival reflects that philosophy by creating space for music, stories and craftsmanship to flourish across generations.
For over two decades, Rajasthan has been central to Vedanta’s growth story. With cumulative investments exceeding ₹1 lakh crore, the company has played a pivotal role in unlocking the state’s economic potential. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. ranks among the largest integrated zinc producers in the world and a leading silver producer, while Cairn Oil & Gas is the country’s biggest private oil and gas producer, contributing almost a quarter of India’s domestic crude output. These ventures have spurred industrial progress in districts such as Barmer and Chanderiya in Chittorgarh and generated more than 1 lakh employment opportunities, accelerating Rajasthan’s evolution into a hub for metals, energy and sustainability.
This edition of the festival will also introduce an immersive, gamified experience designed to help visitors understand the importance of metals and natural resources in India’s development. Through AR/VR simulations and interactive exhibits, audiences will be able to explore how minerals such as zinc, silver, copper, aluminium and energy resources contribute to renewable power, mobility, electronics, aviation, healthcare and a range of modern industries. The zone has been created for students, families and heritage enthusiasts, offering an engaging way to link Rajasthan’s resources to India’s economic and technological progress.
Vedanta’s longstanding presence in Rajasthan goes beyond industrial investments, extending deeply into community development. The company has modernised more than 7,000 anganwadis under the Nand Ghar initiative across 30 districts and contributed over ₹2,500 crore to programmes focused on women empowerment and early childhood welfare. A particularly significant milestone has been the advancement of women in sectors traditionally closed to them—Vedanta has enabled India’s first women underground mining engineers and the country’s first all-women mine rescue team and today employs some of the highest numbers of women in mining, metals and oil & gas. Through SHG networks such as Sakhi and Jiji Bai, the company has helped women artisans and entrepreneurs scale their skills, build community enterprises and secure financial independence.
In addition to the Jaigarh Heritage Festival, Vedanta supports a range of cultural and sporting platforms across Rajasthan including the Jaipur Literature Festival, Pink City Half Marathon, Zinc City Half Marathon and Udaipur Music Festival. Through these efforts, the company continues to unite heritage, community upliftment and innovation, reinforcing its vision of Rajasthan as a cultural powerhouse and an engine of economic opportunity—and a future Vedanta remains committed to advancing.
