Vedanta Power has reaffirmed its strong commitment to workplace safety by reporting zero fatalities across its operations in FY2026. The milestone was announced as part of National Safety Month, observed from March 4, positioning the company among the leading safety performers in India’s thermal power sector.
Vedanta Power operates several major facilities, including Talwandi Sabo Power Limited in Punjab, Meenakshi Energy Limited in Andhra Pradesh, and the Vedanta Limited Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant. Across these sites, safety practices are deeply integrated into daily operations and workforce engagement.
Commenting on the achievement, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO – Power, Vedanta Limited, emphasized that safety remains the company’s top priority. He stated that ensuring every employee returns home safely each day is a fundamental responsibility and a key driver of operational excellence. The company’s “Zero Harm” and “No Injury” philosophy reflects a culture where safety is embedded into every aspect of work.
Vedanta Power has implemented comprehensive safety systems that include strict permit protocols, standardized operating procedures, and continuous monitoring to identify and mitigate risks. Employees and business partners regularly participate in safety briefings and training programs designed to reinforce responsible practices.
The company is also advancing its safety framework through technology and proactive risk management. High-risk activities are monitored under Critical Risk Management systems, supported by initiatives such as Visible Felt Leadership, where senior leaders conduct regular site visits to reinforce safety practices. Personal Safety Action Plans ensure accountability at the frontline, while a Night Duty Officer system provides round-the-clock oversight.
Digital transformation is playing a key role in strengthening safety culture. Vedanta Power has introduced AR and VR-based training modules to enhance learning and preparedness. In addition, mental wellness initiatives are being implemented to promote psychological safety alongside physical safety. Employees are empowered through policies such as the “Right to Refuse Unsafe Work” and Stop Work Authority, encouraging proactive intervention when risks are identified.
This year’s National Safety Month theme, “Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety,” aligns closely with the company’s approach. Vedanta Power actively involves employees, contractors, and local communities in safety awareness programs, extending its impact beyond the workplace.
As part of the month-long observance, the company has organized a range of initiatives, including safety quizzes, recognition of safety champions, business partner awards, and health camps. Community-focused programs such as “Suraksha Kutumb” aim to promote safety practices at home, while “Kaun Banega Safety Champ” engages employees and their families in interactive learning. These initiatives reflect Vedanta Power’s belief that safety is a shared responsibility. By involving families and communities, the company is working to build a broader culture of awareness and accountability.
While achieving zero fatalities is a significant milestone, Vedanta Power continues to focus on further strengthening its safety systems. The goal is to move beyond compliance toward a predictive, technology-enabled, and culture-driven safety ecosystem.
Through continuous improvement, investment in training, and adoption of advanced technologies, Vedanta Power remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety across its operations. The company’s efforts underscore its dedication to protecting its workforce, enhancing operational reliability, and contributing to sustainable industrial growth.
