Uno Minda Limited has announced four strategic expansion and plant consolidation projects across its key business divisions, with a combined proposed investment of approximately ₹1,415 crore. The projects cover the company’s Two-Wheeler Alloy Wheels, Aluminium Casting, Moulding, and Interior, Exterior Parts and Sealing Systems businesses. The planned investments are aimed at increasing manufacturing capacity, strengthening the company’s production network and meeting demand from automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

As part of the expansion programme, Uno Minda’s Aluminium Casting Division will establish a new greenfield facility at its available land parcel on Thally Road in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The existing Hosur facility has reached its practical expansion limits, while demand for aluminium castings for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles continues to increase, particularly in South India.

The new facility will involve an estimated additional investment of approximately ₹510 crore. Aluminium casting capacity at the Hosur location will increase from around 13,000 MT to 30,000 MT at peak capacity. The project will be implemented in phases over the next three years, with Phase 1 expected to commence production by Q4 FY28.

Existing Hosur operations will be consolidated and relocated to the new facility by Q1 FY29. The plant will have a lean manufacturing layout aimed at improving material flow and productivity. Its product range will include structural and general application castings, including components for EV and powertrain applications, as well as around 1 million HPDC two-wheeler alloy wheels.

In another major project, Uno Minda’s Board has approved a 3.3 million-unit two-wheeler alloy wheel capacity expansion at Kharkhoda in Haryana. The project includes the strategic relocation of 2 million units of existing capacity from Supa, Maharashtra, to Kharkhoda. The Kharkhoda project will involve an estimated additional investment of approximately ₹155 crore and will be implemented in phases over the next two years. Phase 1 is expected to commence production by Q4 FY28.

The expansion is intended to align production capacity with changing customer demand and strengthen Uno Minda’s manufacturing presence in North India. The company is also undertaking expansion initiatives across its other business divisions as part of its broader capacity-building programme.

Established in 1958, Uno Minda manufactures automotive components and systems for passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers, covering internal combustion engine, electric and hybrid vehicles. The company has 78 manufacturing facilities across India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Germany, Spain and Mexico, along with 37 R&D and engineering centres across multiple countries. It also has 18 joint ventures and technical agreements with manufacturers from Japan, Korea and China.
