Ultraviolette, an innovation-led electric mobility manufacturer, has introduced a new ownership model called Battery Flex, marking a significant step toward making advanced electric mobility more accessible to customers across India. The initiative follows the successful launch of the X-47 and introduces a battery subscription structure designed to lower the upfront purchase cost while maintaining access to the company’s high-performance technology.
Battery Flex is being launched in collaboration with Ecofy, a non-banking financial company dedicated to financing climate-positive solutions. Through this partnership, the two companies aim to expand access to electric mobility by offering customers greater flexibility in how they finance and own their vehicles. The approach allows riders to purchase the vehicle chassis separately while subscribing to the battery through a monthly payment plan.
With this structure, customers can own the Ultraviolette X-47 starting at ₹1,49,000, while the battery subscription begins at ₹2,499 per month. The subscription model separates the cost of the battery from the vehicle itself, enabling riders to enter the performance electric motorcycle segment at a significantly reduced initial investment. Over the course of the subscription term, the battery remains covered under the plan, and ownership of the battery transfers to the customer at the end of the tenure without additional charges.
Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette, said the model is designed to broaden access to performance-oriented electric motorcycles. He noted that earlier pricing for Ultraviolette motorcycles was comparable with similarly powered internal combustion engine motorcycles, but the new structure allows riders to enter the segment at approximately ₹1.5 lakh. According to him, the monthly operating cost of the battery subscription is also comparable to, or lower than, the average amount many riders spend on petrol, helping redefine affordability in the motorcycling segment while maintaining high performance and advanced technology.
The program also reflects Ultraviolette’s continued focus on battery technology development. Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-founder of the company, highlighted that battery systems remain central to the performance, safety, and durability of electric vehicles. He stated that the introduction of Battery Flex extends years of research and development to customers by offering a flexible ownership structure aligned with evolving rider needs.
Battery Flex reduces the upfront purchase cost of the Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover by approximately 40 percent, allowing customers to access performance-focused electric mobility with lower initial expenditure. Enrollment for the program begins on March 5, 2026, and will be available to customers across India.
Ultraviolette stated that the initiative is intended to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility by combining technological innovation with financing solutions that improve accessibility. By lowering entry barriers and providing flexible ownership pathways, the company aims to encourage more riders to transition to electric performance motorcycles while contributing to the broader growth of sustainable transportation in India.
