FedEx Express has introduced 14 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter electric vans into its pickup and delivery fleet in the United Arab Emirates, marking the first deployment of this model by the company in the Middle East. The rollout represents a step forward in FedEx’s broader strategy to transition toward a fully electric global pickup and delivery fleet by 2040.

The newly deployed electric vehicles will operate on daily delivery routes across the UAE, supporting last-mile logistics with a load capacity of up to three tonnes and an estimated range of up to 380 kilometres per charge. The fleet is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 148 metric tonnes annually, contributing to lower environmental impact in urban delivery operations.

The UAE has been selected as an early market for this deployment, reflecting its growing role in advancing sustainable logistics solutions in the region. The initiative aligns with the country’s Net Zero by 2050 goals and supports the increasing demand for efficient and environmentally responsible delivery services driven by e-commerce growth.

FedEx stated that the introduction of electric vehicles forms part of a phased approach to achieving zero tailpipe emissions in its operations. The company continues to expand its use of alternative fuel technologies while maintaining service reliability and operational efficiency.

The eSprinter vans are designed for commercial delivery environments, offering a combination of payload capacity, driving range, and safety features suited to high-frequency logistics operations. Their integration into the FedEx network demonstrates the viability of electric vehicles in demanding, large-scale delivery systems.

In parallel with fleet electrification, FedEx is implementing additional sustainability initiatives across its operations in the UAE. Its logistics hub at Dubai World Central has been developed in line with green building standards, incorporating energy-efficient systems and infrastructure to reduce resource consumption. The facility includes electric vehicle charging capabilities and is expected to integrate solar energy solutions in the future.

FedEx has also introduced a digital tool that provides customers with access to shipment-related carbon emissions data. This platform enables businesses to track environmental impact and make informed decisions about their logistics strategies. The deployment of electric delivery vehicles in the UAE reflects a broader shift toward sustainable logistics practices, combining technological innovation with infrastructure development to support long-term environmental goals while maintaining operational performance.
