Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in India has announced the groundbreaking of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka, marking a significant expansion of its operations in the country. The greenfield investment is set to increase the company’s production capacity by 30 percent and reinforce its long-term commitment to the Indian market.
Spread across a 50,000 square meter campus, the facility is scheduled for completion in 2027. For the first time, it will bring together the company’s full spectrum of capabilities under one roof, including advanced manufacturing, research and development, application engineering, a Customer Solutions Center, supply chain operations, and global IT services. This integrated approach is designed to enhance collaboration, streamline operations, and deliver faster, more efficient solutions to customers.
Trelleborg began its India journey in 2005 with its first manufacturing unit in Bengaluru. Over the past two decades, the company has experienced steady growth, driven by strong engineering expertise, a focus on localization, increasing market demand, and India’s strategic importance in global supply chains. The new facility builds on this legacy, positioning the company as one of the few multinational players capable of manufacturing a wide range of sealing solutions locally for both domestic and international markets.
The built-up area of 30,000 square meters will house advanced production capabilities across multiple product lines, including PTFE components, rotary shaft seals, mechanical face seals, and polyurethane-based solutions. These products cater to diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, agriculture, construction, fluid power, industrial automation, oil and gas, railways, and semiconductors.
A key highlight of the new campus is its dedicated Research and Development Center, equipped with advanced materials and testing laboratories. This facility will enable high-quality product development, in-depth analysis, and faster implementation of customer-driven innovation projects aligned with global standards.
Designed to meet stringent international certifications such as AS/EN 9100, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, the facility underscores Trelleborg’s commitment to quality, safety, and environmental responsibility. It is also being developed with a focus on energy efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and workplace safety.
The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth. Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, MB Patil, extended his support, highlighting the state’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly ecosystem.
