TotalEnergies and Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on hydrocarbon exploration opportunities, marking a new phase of technical cooperation between the two energy companies. The agreement establishes a framework for joint evaluation of exploration prospects, with an initial focus on the Black Sea region of Türkiye. It also extends to potential international opportunities, enabling both companies to leverage their respective expertise across multiple geographies.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two organizations will work together on technical studies, data sharing, and assessments aimed at identifying viable exploration projects. The collaboration is expected to combine TotalEnergies’ global experience in exploration and project development with TPAO’s regional knowledge and operational capabilities.
Nicola Mavilla, Senior Vice President Exploration at TotalEnergies, said the agreement reflects a shared objective to pursue promising exploration prospects through a balanced and mutually beneficial approach. He noted that the partnership would allow both companies to capitalize on their technical strengths while expanding their presence in strategic energy regions.
