Tecumseh, a global manufacturer of commercial refrigeration compressors and systems, is presenting a range of advanced cooling technologies at ACREX India 2026, South Asia’s leading HVACR exhibition being held from March 12–14 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. The company is highlighting its latest developments in energy-efficient refrigeration, environmentally responsible refrigerants and integrated cold chain solutions designed specifically for the Indian market.
With India witnessing rapid growth in organized retail, food logistics and cold storage infrastructure, demand for efficient refrigeration systems is rising sharply. Tecumseh’s presence at the exhibition reflects its long-term focus on supporting this expansion through localized manufacturing and technology development.
One of the major highlights of the company’s showcase is the introduction of the TC3 compressor platform, a premium-efficiency product designed and manufactured in India. The new compressor range covers capacities from 3 to 12 cc and is engineered to deliver more than 30 percent energy savings compared with earlier product platforms. The locally manufactured solution is designed to meet both domestic demand and export requirements across regional markets.
Ricardo Maciel, Chief Executive Officer of Tecumseh, said India continues to be one of the fastest-growing refrigeration and HVAC markets globally, driven by urbanization, rising consumption of temperature-sensitive goods and the expansion of modern food retail networks. According to him, this growth presents an opportunity for companies to introduce advanced technologies that improve performance while reducing environmental impact.
Mr Maciel noted that Tecumseh’s strategy combines global engineering expertise with strong local manufacturing capabilities. By producing key components in India, the company can respond quickly to regional requirements while contributing to the country’s industrial ecosystem.
A central theme of Tecumseh’s showcase at ACREX India 2026 is the transition toward refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). Governments and regulatory bodies worldwide are accelerating efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from refrigeration systems, leading to a growing shift toward environmentally responsible refrigerants.
To address these requirements, Tecumseh is displaying compressors designed to operate with R290, a natural refrigerant based on propane that offers both high energy efficiency and significantly lower environmental impact compared with conventional refrigerants. These compressors are suitable for a wide range of commercial and light commercial refrigeration applications.
Fernando Fischer, Global Marketing Director at Tecumseh, said the global transition toward lower-GWP refrigerants is gathering pace, with India playing an increasingly important role in the process. He noted that manufacturers and system integrators are seeking refrigeration technologies that combine regulatory compliance with reliability and efficiency.
In addition to R290-based systems, Tecumseh continues to expand its portfolio of compressors compatible with A2L refrigerants, which represent the next generation of mildly flammable, low-GWP refrigerant solutions. These technologies are designed with strong safety features while maintaining system performance and efficiency.
Beyond compressors, Tecumseh is also highlighting its integrated cold chain solutions at the exhibition. These include condensing units and optimized refrigeration systems developed for applications in food retail, cold storage facilities, food processing operations and logistics networks.
The company is also introducing Orion, a new global fractional systems platform developed to support a wide variety of refrigeration equipment applications. Designed with a compact footprint and multi-refrigerant capability, Orion provides equipment manufacturers with flexible system configurations and scalable supply solutions.
