Tata Technologies has announced the launch of the fourth edition of its flagship engineering innovation challenge, InnoVent-27, bringing together engineering students from across India to develop next-generation solutions powered by Edge Artificial Intelligence. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with Emerson’s Test & Measurement business and Amazon Web Services (AWS), strengthening industry participation and providing students with direct exposure to emerging technologies shaping the future of engineering.

The theme for this year’s competition, “AI at the Edge,” focuses on enabling real-time intelligence at the point where data is generated. Participants are invited to develop innovative solutions that improve efficiency, safety, sustainability, and autonomy across automotive, aerospace, and industrial machinery applications.

The competition is open to third and fourth-year engineering students nationwide and encourages multidisciplinary participation. Reflecting Tata Technologies’ commitment to diversity and inclusion, special emphasis is being placed on teams that include women innovators and differently abled participants.

Students will have the opportunity to address industry-relevant challenges in areas such as advanced driver assistance systems, autonomous mobility, predictive maintenance, intelligent manufacturing, digital twins, industrial automation, connected ecosystems, inspection technologies, and sustainable transportation solutions.

The evaluation process will take place in three stages, beginning with concept submissions, followed by virtual proof-of-concept presentations and concluding with live prototype demonstrations before an expert jury. Projects will be assessed on innovation, technical feasibility, practical applicability, diversity of thought, and potential impact on industry.

To support participants throughout the competition, Tata Technologies will provide mentorship through its engineering specialists and domain experts. Finalists will gain access to technical guidance, industry insights, and development support aimed at transforming ideas into deployable solutions.

Winning teams will compete for cumulative prize money of ₹4.5 lakh along with career opportunities at Tata Technologies. Additional recognitions, including awards for breakthrough innovation and prototype excellence, will be presented by the event’s industry partners. Teams advancing to the proof-of-concept stage will also receive participation certificates.

Commenting on the launch, Komal Chhabra, Senior Vice President – Strategy, Marketing and Corporate Development at Tata Technologies, said, “Engineering innovation thrives when young minds are given the opportunity to solve real-world challenges. InnoVent-27 provides a platform where students can apply advanced technologies to industry problems while gaining exposure to leading engineering practices. Edge AI is becoming increasingly important across manufacturing and mobility sectors, and this initiative encourages students to contribute to that transformation.”
