Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a key player in India’s green energy sector and a subsidiary of Tata Power, has successfully commissioned 752 megawatts (MW) of solar power projects in the first quarter of FY26. This marks the company’s highest-ever quarterly addition and represents a 112% increase compared to the 354 MW commissioned during the same period last year.

This milestone highlights TPREL’s ability to execute large-scale projects efficiently, backed by meticulous planning, a skilled workforce, and a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards. The company attributes its success to advanced engineering, a resilient supply chain, and strategic partnerships with vendors. These elements have enabled TPREL to maintain cost-efficiency while delivering projects even under challenging conditions.

With this latest addition, the company’s total operational capacity for utility-scale projects now reaches 5.6 gigawatts (GW), comprising 4.6 GW from solar and 1 GW from wind energy. TPREL plans to further expand by commissioning an additional 1.7 GW of in-house utility-scale projects and 1 GW of third-party developments during FY26.

Tata Power has set a target of achieving 7.3 GW in total renewable operational capacity by the end of FY26, aiming for 5.6 GW from solar and 1.7 GW from wind sources. These expansions not only contribute to India’s renewable energy goals but also emphasize Tata Power’s role in enhancing the country’s energy security and supporting its sustainability commitments.

Tata Power Company Limited, a core part of the Tata Group, stands as one of India’s leading integrated power utilities. With a diverse generation capacity of 15.7 GW, the company operates across the full energy value chain—including renewable and conventional generation, power transmission and distribution, energy trading, battery storage solutions, and solar module and cell production.

Clean energy makes up 6.9 GW, or 44% of Tata Power’s total capacity. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality before 2045 and currently supplies electricity to around 12.8 million customers across the country through its collaborations with both public and private sectors.
