Tata Motors has received cumulative orders for more than 5,000 buses and bus chassis from several State Transport Undertakings (STUs) across India. The orders were secured through a competitive government e-bidding process and will be fulfilled in phases in accordance with deployment schedules established by each transport authority.

The contracts involve multiple public transport organizations, including Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation, Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, Haryana Roadways and Chandigarh Transport Undertaking.

The order win represents a significant portion of the nationwide procurement undertaken by these transport authorities and reinforces Tata Motors’ role as a major provider of public mobility solutions in India.

Public transport systems across India rely heavily on bus networks to connect cities, towns and rural communities. These networks support millions of passengers every day, enabling access to employment, education and essential services. The newly awarded contracts are expected to strengthen transportation capacity across multiple states.

The vehicles included in the orders span several models from the company’s commercial passenger vehicle range. These include the Tata Magna, Tata Cityride, Tata Starbus and Tata Starbus Prime, along with bus chassis models such as the LPO 1618, LPO 1622 and LPO 1822.

The buses will be configured for a range of operational requirements including intercity travel, long-distance routes and urban public transport services. Designed to operate across diverse terrain and operating conditions, the vehicles aim to provide durability, passenger comfort and efficient operating economics for fleet operators.

The company also maintains a nationwide support network comprising more than 4,500 sales and service touchpoints. This infrastructure enables fleet operators to receive technical assistance and parts availability across urban and rural locations, helping maintain service continuity.
