Sunsure Energy, a leading provider of round-the-clock renewable energy solutions for businesses and utilities, announced the commissioning of a 105 MWp solar power project in Mahoba district, marking a significant milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy development journey. Located in Kabrai village, the solar facility was completed within four months of signing the power purchase agreement and becomes the first project to evacuate renewable energy through the state’s Green Energy Corridor-II infrastructure. The achievement represents an important step in strengthening renewable power integration and supporting Uttar Pradesh’s long-term energy transition goals.

Spread across 282 acres, the project is connected to the power grid through a dedicated seven-kilometre, 132 kV transmission line. Once fully operational, it is expected to generate more than 16.7 crore units of clean electricity annually, sufficient to meet the yearly power needs of nearly 1.4 lakh households. The project is also expected to offset approximately 1.2 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year, contributing significantly to regional and national sustainability objectives.

The commissioning marks the first successful evacuation of green power through the newly energized 220 kV Kabrai substation under Uttar Pradesh’s Green Energy Corridor-II initiative. The corridor, being developed by Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL), involves investments of nearly ₹5,400 crore across transmission infrastructure and substations designed to facilitate the evacuation of around 4,000 MW of solar power from the Bundelkhand region.

Speaking on the development, Shashank Sharma, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sunsure Energy, said, “The transition to clean energy is closely linked to India’s industrial growth ambitions. Uttar Pradesh has demonstrated a strong commitment to integrating renewable energy with industrial development, and we are proud to contribute to this transformation. The successful commissioning of this project highlights the collaborative efforts of government agencies, transmission authorities and project partners in accelerating sustainable growth.”

The Mahoba project is Sunsure Energy’s eleventh operational facility in Uttar Pradesh and takes the Company’s total operational capacity in the state to 365 MWp. Through its UP Shakti initiative, launched in 2023, the Company aims to further expand its renewable energy footprint and reach 500 MW of operational capacity in the state. The planned commissioning of a 125 MW/500 MWh battery energy storage project is expected to strengthen grid reliability and support wider renewable energy adoption.

Founded in 2014, Sunsure Energy focuses on delivering round-the-clock renewable power solutions through a combination of solar, wind, and energy storage systems. The company supports businesses in achieving high levels of renewable energy adoption through long-term agreements tailored to their operational needs.
