Škoda Auto has commenced series production of its new all-electric Epiq SUV at the Volkswagen Navarra manufacturing facility in Pamplona, Spain. The start of production marks a significant milestone in the company’s electrification strategy and strengthens collaboration within Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core initiative.
The Epiq is positioned as Škoda’s most affordable electric vehicle and serves as the entry point to the brand’s growing battery-electric portfolio. Built on the new MEB+ platform, the model combines compact dimensions with everyday practicality while introducing the company’s Modern Solid design language to a wider customer base.
Production of the Epiq in Spain represents a strategic step for Škoda. It is the first model in the brand’s history to be manufactured in the country and only the second vehicle in its current European range to be produced outside the Czech Republic. The move enables the company to optimise manufacturing capacity while maintaining flexibility for other high-demand models produced at its domestic facilities.
Klaus Zellmer, Chief Executive Officer of Škoda Auto, described the launch as a landmark moment for the company’s electric mobility journey. He highlighted the Epiq’s role in making electric driving more accessible while offering customers strong value, practical functionality, and advanced technology.
The Epiq forms part of Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family, a cross-brand initiative that also includes models from Volkswagen and CUPRA. Through shared development and manufacturing synergies, the programme aims to deliver highly competitive electric vehicles in the entry-level segment while improving economies of scale.
The vehicle offers a range of battery and powertrain options, with outputs ranging from 85 kW to 155 kW. Depending on configuration, the Epiq can deliver a driving range of up to 440 kilometres, making it suitable for both urban commuting and longer journeys. Advanced driver assistance systems and safety technologies further enhance the ownership experience.
The Volkswagen Navarra plant, one of the Group’s key production facilities, has undergone preparations to support electric vehicle manufacturing alongside existing combustion-engine models. The facility’s flexible production setup allows different vehicle types to be assembled on the same line, ensuring efficiency and responsiveness to market demand.
Together with the upcoming Peaq model, the Epiq will play a central role in expanding Škoda’s electric vehicle lineup. The launch underscores the company’s commitment to broadening customer access to sustainable mobility while strengthening its position in Europe’s rapidly evolving electric vehicle market.
