Sparkle Clean Tech (SCT), the exclusive global licensee of Siemens Energy’s oil and gas water-treatment technology, has entered into a strategic alliance with Aquadei, LLC to introduce next-generation nanobubble and hydrodynamic cavitation technologies to oil and gas operations worldwide. The collaboration aims to redefine water treatment efficiency, achieving measurable improvements in performance, sustainability, and cost reduction across the sector.

Nanobubbles — gas particles measuring less than 200 nanometers — possess unique interfacial characteristics that influence how oil, water, and solids interact. When combined with SCT’s separation systems, these ultrafine bubbles significantly enhance oil-water separation, reduce chemical requirements, and deliver greater operational consistency.

Unlike conventional flotation methods that rely solely on buoyancy, the SCT–Aquadei solution integrates hybrid nanobubble and microbubble flotation. The process begins with a hydrodynamic cavitation pre-treatment that generates intense microjets and shockwaves, breaking down persistent emulsions while naturally creating stable nanobubbles. These nanobubbles alter droplet surfaces, promote coalescence, and improve attachment to larger microbubbles, resulting in faster, cleaner, and more energy-efficient separations within a compact, inline system.

The collaboration between Sparkle Clean Tech and Aquadei is set to bring significant efficiency gains and sustainability improvements to oilfield water management. By integrating advanced nanobubble and hydrodynamic cavitation technologies, the partnership will enable operators to achieve up to 40% higher oil recovery rates, boosting the performance of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations while maintaining greater process stability and control.

A key advantage of this innovation lies in its ability to reduce chemical consumption by nearly 30% during produced water treatment. This not only lowers operational costs but also minimizes environmental impact by decreasing chemical discharge and waste generation. Additionally, the system helps extend pipeline lifespan by mitigating biofilm formation and scaling, thereby reducing maintenance downtime and improving long-term asset reliability.

The nanobubble-driven process also enhances gas transfer efficiency for oxygen, ozone, and carbon dioxide, ensuring optimal usage with reduced energy requirements. Together, these advancements contribute to cleaner discharge water, lower emissions, and more sustainable production workflows, aligning with the industry’s growing focus on responsible resource management and environmental stewardship.

By uniting SCT’s global network and Siemens-licensed solutions with Aquadei’s nanobubble expertise, the alliance will accelerate the adoption of advanced water treatment systems in the oil and gas industry. Initial project deployments are planned for North America and the Middle East in early 2026, with broader global expansion to follow.
