Schlamann-Autokrane GmbH has expanded its lifting capabilities with the delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 mobile crane, the first of four Liebherr cranes scheduled to join the company’s fleet this year. The investment reflects Schlamann’s continued focus on fleet modernisation and its commitment to supporting increasingly complex infrastructure and industrial projects.

The new LTM 1230-5.1 is a 230-tonne mobile crane equipped with a 75-metre telescopic boom, enabling efficient lifting operations at significant hook heights without the need for additional lattice boom extensions. The crane is designed for demanding applications, including the erection of electricity transmission pylons, wind turbine maintenance and tower crane assembly, where extended reach and operational flexibility are essential.

Managing Director Torsten Schlamann, accompanied by his daughter Katharina Schlamann, representing the third generation of the family-owned business, received the crane at Liebherr’s manufacturing facility in Ehingen. The latest acquisition increases Schlamann’s fleet to 23 mobile cranes and strengthens the company’s ability to serve the growing demand arising from Germany’s expanding energy infrastructure projects. With transmission network upgrades playing a key role in the country’s energy transition, the company expects sustained demand for specialised lifting equipment capable of handling large-scale utility installations.

Commenting on the investment, Torsten Schlamann said, “The expansion of electricity infrastructure requires cranes that can deliver greater reach while maintaining operational efficiency. The long telescopic boom of the LTM 1230-5.1 enables us to complete projects more efficiently by reducing setup time and eliminating the need for additional boom extensions in many applications.”

Schlamann continues to invest in advanced equipment to improve productivity, operator safety and service reliability. The company highlighted the benefits of the crane’s latest driver assistance technologies, including blind-spot monitoring systems that enhance operational safety during transport and site manoeuvring.

Further fleet expansion is already planned, with three additional Liebherr cranes scheduled for delivery before the end of 2026. These include the LTM 1055-3.3, recognised for its low axle loads and ability to travel with full counterweight while reducing permit requirements, and the LTM 1150-5.4, featuring a 66-metre telescopic boom and the latest LICCON3 control system. The order also includes an LTF 1060-4.1 telescopic truck-mounted crane designed for efficient long-distance road travel.

Headquartered in Germany, Schlamann-Autokrane GmbH operates across four locations with a workforce of 95 employees. In addition to its fleet of mobile cranes, the company offers aerial work platforms and forklift trucks, managing a fleet of approximately 300 machines to support construction, industrial and infrastructure projects.
